Leg 3: Willi Prittie | National Geographic

well we had a shortened day yesterday
didn’t get to talking to the little
black box here this morning or excuse me
last night doing it this morning and
said it was amazing walk that we had a
hike down Stradlin lake or what used to
be struggling like is ciroc blocks or
just an absolutely beautiful gorgeous
sight it was a really fascinating time
that we had weaving our way down through
these blocks got to be a little careful
of them because they’re all water
saturated and a lot of them are falling
apart we’ve seen about six or seven of
them split in half an avalanche about a
hundred tons of ice down off them so
potentially lethal landscape beautiful I
had a really rough day yesterday and I
was in a pissy mood when the day was
over yesterday basically from doing a
lot of high-altitude climbing and cold
weather climbing for my entire life I’ve
got pretty poor circulation of my feet
I’ve never had frostbite but it takes a
toll after a while and wasn’t quite
prepared for heaven to cross this raging
glacial torrent multiple times and
multiple channels to actually get down
here where we decided to camp we
shortened the day because it was so bad
so wet pissing down rain and my feet
were tender enough I could hardly even
walk on them at least the parts that i
could feel there were significant
sections of my feet that I couldn’t feel
last night did manage to get him warmed
up after a long time in the sleeping bag
and that was a comfort today at the
moment it’s not raining heavy cloud a
lot of mist and fog coming and going
here in strandline lake basin but I
definitely have a much better outlook on
life this morning than I did last night
more to come
