I always describe it to people the
costume designers like the general and
then they have people under them the
sergeants that run you know the
day-to-day operations with the costume
designer figures out the battle plan
we’ve had to prepare ourselves with many
kinds of uniforms many kinds of street
clothes both you know pedestrians and
people dressed up we have the Joint
Chiefs of Staff we’ve had to do Lady
Bird and Lyndon Johnson I did spend a
lot of time looking for the tie that
John F Kennedy was assassinated in it
was exciting to look for is exciting to
know how intimately I know that pattern
if I ever see that tie I’ll know it
immediately each person that comes and
is in our movie whether he was the guy
that drove Oswald to work that day or
the policeman that he was shot we had to
investigate every single person we had
to research them because they are real
and so in that way you have to be a
costume historian I feel lucky to get to
know this time period in this event so
well and I know all the players now and
I
what they did in those last few days and
literally what kind of shoes they wore
and what kind of jackets they had with
it it’s been a challenge but we’ve
certainly enjoyed it
