Kelsey Grammer on Playing King Herod | Killing Jesus

King Herod was the Roman appointed king
of Judea at the time of Jesus’s birth
made a couple of calculated decisions
that were pretty horrific live on after
him of all the infants born in my
kingdom homer you’ll find his one
children destined to be the Messiah I
had no idea how to play him you know
they say he’s a big kind of emotional
and angry guy right you don’t really
know how to find that based upon what
you’ve seen in the text and then all of
a sudden when I realized he thought
people were plotting for his life that’s
efficient that comes to him when he’s
lying in his bed
I thought well when I mean he’d have a
weapon in his bed so if that dagger
seemed to open up everything for me so I
go I go raging around the castle Herod
is physically challenged by all these
boils and stuff that they put on and he
but he apparently was full of pustules
and weeping sores and open wounds all
sorts of things this is considered to be
part of the prophecy
condemnation those who mourn allowing
producers working on the show we don’t
really you know have a lot of New
Testament grasp but they said oh you
know we just shot the Sermon on the
Mount see it was so moving and I said
well imagine what it must have been like
the first time they thought oh yeah yeah
you are a party ok yes I read the Bible
a lot I’ve got great insight from it
through my ears and so I’m a fan of the
story it’s a pretty great story pretty
extraordinary person to be you know
telling the story about
you
