Just Another Day? | National Geographic

that iconic photo of the plane in the
water with all the people standing on
the wing is seems like a mystery to me
it doesn’t feel like a part of what I
experienced that day it looks like the
plane just landed on the water and
everybody got off the plane and stood on
the wing and waited for help and that
was it it was over and that’s not the
experience at all my experience was that
getting off the plane was every bit as
terrifying as going down in the plane
the odds were that the plane was sinking
there was no one around it was freezing
cold and there was nowhere to go the jet
fuel wreaked and we’d had a fire there
was just no way out this was not going
to end well
that photograph just feels like someone
else’s experience not mine
I don’t know how they ever got all of us
in that moment in time standing on that
wing looking like just another day
