Jason Silva on Time | Brain Games

I think the perception of time can shift
depending on many factors I think
breathing I think meditation sometimes
different religions different cultural
operating systems we wear wristwatches
we all of a sudden time comes under car
control we control time we dictate time
we decide what time it is and when we do
this and that but there’s other ways of
interpreting that experience of the
moment unfolding there’s this sense that
sometimes time slows down and sometimes
time speeds up and sometimes when we’re
in the zone we lose track of time when
we’re doing an activity that elicits an
adrenaline rush time slows down there’s
time dilation you know altered states of
consciousness people then go into
shamanic trances or do psychedelic
substances or meditation talk about
being able to experience different we
have these brains that evolved in a
world that was linear and local but now
we live in a world that is global and
exponential because our brains come from
a linear and local world they make
linear projections about how long
something will take before it comes to
fruition it’s almost like we need to
reteach ourselves how to perceive
technological progress and think
exponentially
