Jason Silva on Perception | Brain Games

what I think is amazing right off the
bat whenever you play with visual
perception is that the immediate kind of
visceral take away is that what you see
is not always what you get we take in
electrical signals through our senses
that are interpreted by our brain
there’s always an element of
interpretation and so we’re forced to
kind of live within a reality tunnel
that’s tinged by the perspective editing
of our senses as well as by our
preconceptions and prejudices about the
world we don’t see reality we see our we
all see things differently we live
inside of different reality tunnels we
live inside of different cultural
constructs and so I think through these
experiments through these illusions
through these games that we’re creating
in brain games people get to things I
get to be entertained they get to be
enthralled they get to be in astonished
on the one hand but they have to learn
something it’s a take away
they come out of the experience feeling
huh wow I can think about this now and I
can apply this idea to my life and
perhaps walk you know go through life
being a little less rigid about what is
real and what is it and kind of embrace
this ambiguity
