Innovation on the ISS | National Geographic

as the International Space Station
travels through space at 23 times the
speed of sound
astronauts successfully guide to the
station’s cutting edge robotic arm – a
resupply spacecraft delivery of supplies
is vital to the important scientific
research and innovations taking place
onboard the station with six
state-of-the-art laboratories the ISS is
the premier research facility in space
larger than any other station before the
earth is a very convenient
the space station is an excellent
testbed to understand the effects of
microgravity on human physiology gaining
new knowledge that all can benefit from
the daily life on the ground we have
velcro on the
the food packaging
and using this velcro
scientists on board are already
developing new medicines for muscular
dystrophy through protein crystal growth
experiments
utilizing the ISS equipment cameras
video and still photography scientists
will be able to provide data and
information to areas prone to natural
disasters dramatically improving
disaster response by exploring the human
frontier in space and developing the
technology to make a home away from home
on other planets the ISS is an
impressive international effort by
humankind to survive the species
