my garden so I’m going to show you if

is my tree stash these are all trees
that I started from seed over the years
this is a Chinese chestnut tree and this
is what I’m gonna show you how to plant
today so first thing you got to do is
select a select an area a planting area
for the tree to grow where there’s full
Sun SPOT so it gives this tree plenty of
solar energy to carry out its
photosynthesis and make Chinese
chestnuts eventually so let’s go ahead
and stick it right here did I mention
that I’m a space wizard so you want to
put the tree this deep in the ground
right so you don’t want to plant you
know have the soil up here down here you
want the soil line in the earth to be
the exact same level as it is in the in
the pot you want the root ball to sit
flush with the top of the soil yeah see
the hole is about the same depth as the
root ball itself so that that seems to
you know be adequate so a soil amendment
is anything that increases the nutrient
content or the quality of the texture of
the soil I prefer to just get a lot of
mulch a lot of organic matter and put
that around
as it’s growing and let the earthworms
and stuff take that or damage my head
down to the soil and I let that speed
beat the tree so let’s go ahead and get
some water water this tree you want to
give your trees a lot of water when you
first plant them that help to settle
down all the little air pockets and
clumps of soil and stuff you know just
kind of kick to get to the root ball to
settle down here
we write last step is get the tree some
mulch some people would only give their
tree life you know that much mulch or
something but I like to do quite a bit
more I like to do a lot of mulch gonna
have too much mulch and then when you
put mulch on it shields the soil from
the Sun so that the water can actually
just kind of hang out in the soil for a
while and the tree can actually drink
the water said if it’s dry now another
thing is that it adds mulch adds organic
matter to the soil organic matter it
increases the carbon content of the soil
and the higher the carbon content the
better the soil is that hold it onto
water so make sure it’s hot out you give
you your tree plenty of water maybe a
bucket of water a week like a
five-gallon bucket water in the summer
it’s hot it’ll grow and make food for
you that’s about all there is to it
