How Do You Recognize Hominid Bones? (Expedition Update) | National Geographic

it took us about a day total to set the
science channel but then it took a while
to move all this equipment in it took
quite a bit of doing to get power to
everything so all of this getting the
microscope setup and the monitor it it
took a while and it took a lot of
planning in Joburg one thing that’s
important to us is to have material that
we can compare the fossils that are
coming out of cake with so we have both
modern material we have modern human
skeleton which helps us make anatomical
identifications and then these are
replicas of the kinds of fossil hominins
that we might expect to define in a cape
around here it’s it’s a good reference
for the kind of anatomy that we’re
looking for but you know there’s a skull
up in the cave which we’re waiting to
come out any any day now maybe today
maybe tomorrow the skull will be here
and we really need these parts of the
skeleton in order to figure out what
we’re looking at and you’ve got to know
the players before you can understand
the play so we’re we need that sculpt we
want it to would I rather be here in the
tent or down in the cave I’d rather be
both places to tell you the truth yeah I
love being here love seeing the
materials it comes in this gives us a
chance to start making sense of it and
that is so it’s just so great to be here
but I also want to be down there digging
it up I really do it looks like they’re
having the time of their life so if i
could have both i would get both the
best is yet to come here this is just
great
you
