Food Traditions | American Colony: Meet the Hutterites

my favorite job on a colony must be
poking in me because I love food and I
just love to cook and bake I really like
to cook anything that’s on the menu from
hamburger to steak chicken nobody really
cares if you know if there’s an extra
spoon full of lard in this thing or you
know whatever how much fat is in this
hamburger if it’s lean beef or if it’s
not I mean some of the soups they make
you could you could spoon the grease off
the top a lot of the recipes are passed
down from generations to generations
because it’s just how we’ve always made
it and people fell in love with it and I
guess they’ll always liked it and
Hutterites they like their food the way
it’s always been made like they liked
our traditions and back full counts of
the tradition when my turn comes I just
love it I love to cook and we have to
cook for 59 people and I just love my
job when I can be in the kitchen all day
it’s awesome for me I love I just love
to cook because I love food my family my
dad and all his brothers have diabetes
and his dad had it and their grandfather
I mean it’s gone back for generations
it’s more genetic now than anything I’m
sure those stuff that weed contributes
to it too especially with the diabetes
and the high cholesterol with all the
fats that we eat and all the sugars and
salts and stuff with the high blood
pressure that’s our diet and I just live
with it
