Fishing Tips: How to Mark an Overboard Waypoint | Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks

we’re gonna do a couple of fishing tips
of Tyler we’re gonna focus on here is
see first things first we’re going to
talk about should something happen while
I’m steaming up to the ground and Paul
be on the back deck working getting the
rods ready get the baits ready and do
whatever needs he had done from that day
of fishing should he fall overboard and
I see that fall Paul falls overboard
the first thing I’m going to do is I’m
going to do a man overboard wait what
I’m going to do is I’m going to grab my
GPS and I’m gonna hold this button right
here that says Man Overboard
what it’s going to do is it’s going to
create a new Waypoint and that’s going
to show me the exact spot that where
Paul fell overboard so now I’m going to
be able to slow the boat down I want to
be able to look at that Waypoint which
shows up as an ax on the screen
there’s Paul and what I’m gonna do is
I’m gonna I’m gonna stop the boat I’m
gonna assess the situation I’m gonna
notice that the wind is blown to the
southeast the tide seems to be running
to the north so Paul is not going to be
influenced too much the wind and the
tide are going to hold him in the same
spot but you know should it be dark or
should it be in rough conditions it’s
not going to be an optimal situation
rescue Paul who’s treading water and
time is limited and I’m gonna do a 180
and then turn around and I’m gonna drive
right back over to that X and what I’m
gonna do is I’m gonna have my my head
out the window the whole entire time
trying to listen to Paul screaming to me
while he’s hopefully not in his rain
gear and able to tread water and
hopefully not injury and once I return
back over the X that means that I would
have gotten back to the area that Paul
is if I don’t find Paul at that X
location I’ll take the boat out of gear
and I’ll let the boat drift and I’ll see
the direction of the drift of the boat
and in whatever drift that makes I’ll
relay that into thinking about where
I’ve lost Paul at and I’ll assess the
boat in the right direction and
hopefully end up finding Paul it seems
like because he doesn’t need a home
I’m saved people have lost their lives a
lot has gone on on the Atlantic it’s
very important you know how to set a man
overboard look wait 100 GPS and you know
how to read the water condition from
Emerson how a person’s going to drift
and travel and the time it takes you to
find them
safety on the water is first and
foremost if you’re at the deep blue you
got to be on a game
