Feeding the Snakes | Snake Salvation

in the wild rattlesnakes eat squirrels
prairie dogs lizards and Jackrabbits but
wild snakes often refuse to eat in
captivity when I first started keeping
snakes a typical life span was maybe a
couple months but now you know a typical
life span of a snake here is getting to
be from anywhere from three months to
you know how most a year
Andrews snakes are living longer but his
single biggest challenge is getting them
to eat at all a fearful mouse can easily
injure a confined rattler if the snake
doesn’t kill it right away Andrew uses
tongs to make things easier for the
snake the mouse fights for its life
the Vipers first strike is just a graze
strike two hits the mouse in its
hindquarters but he’s only stunned
strike three a direct hit now that he
bit and it’s and killed it I will put
the newspapers up around him so let’s
just hope that he is anxious to eat the
mouse
to me when people come here to see the
snakes it’s no different someone goes to
the Baptist Church to eat the free
dinner I mean people want to come they
want to see it let them come see it
