I’d like to think of music not just as
music but as information it can tell the
world anything we live in a data-driven
society I wanted to make music that
reflects that music has a very beautiful
relationship to all of the things that
shape modern ideas about time space
geography as a DJ my tools are
information could you actually take a
conversation with a scientist and turn
it into a string quartet
could you take topography of shattered
glaciers and turn that into composition
climate changes a very profound thing
facing us when I think the arts have a
very important role to play in that you
can make it beautiful you can make it
interesting you can make it immersive
the artists role is not to say hey this
is interesting but to grab you by the
scruff of the neck and say you can’t
live life without thinking a different
way about this another world is possible
digital media’s becomes a basic
vocabulary of how people experience
everything art and music and science and
technology to me are not separate things
we’re all nature
