Natalie’s working on the target injuries
West Side boxing gym in Chattanooga
Tennessee has seen a bunch of talent
pass through its doors 28 national
champions and six world champions so do
these boxes share any of the injuries
left on autograph man’s body okay hi Dan
how’s it going okay that’s interesting
natalie has teamed up with sports
therapist Julie beige and the scars
above autographed man’s eyes look all
too familiar it’s a really common area
for lacerations with boxing usually over
bony prominence in the face over the top
of the I cheekbone okay where the tissue
actually gets burst from the pressure of
the glove looks like there’s probably at
least a couple of them there and that’s
in a common area they turned towards the
most experienced man here retired pro
Mark Smith there’s cut above your eye
what what happened to add a fight over
in France and the guy throw a jab and he
was a softball truthfully as I get hit
I’ll start even moved a lot better
hahaha didn’t want to get hit again
right so um you brought it something you
said he was a southpaw yes and I wanted
to know about left-handed boxers like
whether or not they have an advantage or
disadvantage or how it is fighting one
of your jab is right there Yeah right
there true if you haven’t trained
against left-handed boxer then it’s
tough to defend yourself emo say yes
okay
Judas found another common injury she
wants Natalie to see a broken nose do
you have any problems like breathing
better on one side or the other I do
breathe better on the right side is
deviated to the left that is reason one
nostril is bigger than the other head
coach Andy Smith is putting Natalie
through her paces is it possible that
you can fracture facebones with I mean
just these this is a lot of padding here
are the reason we wear these in training
is to prevent facial injuries fractures
not saying that it’s uncommon in that it
never happens cuz it does it does happen
in Julie’s experience boxers get more
breaks on the lower jaw than the upper
