Birthday Cake for Panda | National Geographic

it’s a 16th birthday so I thought what a
better way to celebrate them to give him
a car every little boy needs a car 16
the process for this cake especially was
to make a mold and we used water and
ground-up carrot to make a kind of an
orange eath lucky color once we did that
we put in pear on pieces of bamboo and
that acted as spokes for the wheels of
the car let that freeze and then we
would put on the applique so it’s like
the windows and the headlights things
like that when it comes to food based
enrichment that is part of the diet so
when we make cakes or other enrichment
items like that typically what we’re
going to do is we’re going to take part
of the normal diet and we’re going to
incorporate that into whatever the
enrichment it might be that way we know
the energy and the protein and the fat
and the other nutrients that are going
into whatever that item is is part of it
the animals daily diet the cake is going
to give tension something to paw
something to explore so it’s something
that he hasn’t seen every day he
definitely hasn’t seen a car before so
he’s going to hopefully enjoy not only
the shape but what it’s made out of and
being able to try and get pieces off of
it the enrichment is more of a mental
health thing for our animals we want to
keep their minds occupied and busy
because you can imagine if you were in
your house all the time with nothing to
do you’d get quite bored so this is
something that gives them something to
do gives them something to stimulate
their brains so it’s really important
for them to have something different
