National Geographic Channel presents an
exclusive deeper dive into cosmos cosmos
does not aspire to adulterate the
science to make it easier to understand
or to dumb it down the science here is
solid and it’s presented in a way that
hopefully will challenge the audience we
had to determine how can we take
learning and turn it into an adventure
so we develop these kind of production
techniques that aren’t generally brought
together animation visual effects
documentary filmmaking to take you on a
journey to help you discover who you are
and why you are I think more so than
just about any other show on TV today
cosmos has an obligation to get the
science right and one of the biggest
challenges on the show is to make sure
that all of these visual effects
sequences are done with the level of
scientific accuracy as well as being
visually very stunning and beautiful one
of the larger challenges with the
animation was making sure that the
research was accurate that we were using
that you just kind of take for granted
when you watched a historical recreation
of something we actually had them create
some of the experiments using props that
they then shot and then we would then
incorporate their shots into our
animation so that it was as accurate as
humanly possible well I’m not a
scientist so our goal in cosmos was to
impart a whole of these insights about
the universe as you’re going on this
journey but also to communicate it so
that someone like me could understand it
so you don’t even notice that it’s
happening but after it’s over you feel
empowered
more aware of who we are in the cosmos
