I really listen to the rock at five foot
five Darcy is by far the smallest member
of the crew
Darcy proves that this job isn’t about
size it’s about heart using your head
using your skills your balance and just
watching everything around you he’s got
a master
I don’t know if I really try to prove
myself more try to show people up and
make them prove themselves better than
me which is really hard to do
Darcy’s size actually helps him stay
nimble with dodge falling rocks the way
to react when a rock is coming down the
slope you keep your eyes on the rock at
all times if you’re looking at the rock
coming at you sometimes it’s just a
matter of shifting your shoulders over a
little bit have that rock whizzed by if
you take your eyes off that rock and you
don’t see where it is then it has a
potential of hitting you and causing
serious injury getting hit by even a
small falling rock can easily break
bones and an arm or a leg leaving the
scaler dangling helplessly in the air
this is where job gets really sketchy
when we do like this there’s good drop
right here and I’m gonna fall this way
so it’s hard for me to get out of the
way
even though Darcy may feel he’s the
undisputed king of the mountain
sometimes the mountain fights back buddy
I didn’t drop far the mountain took my
bar that’s what happened I was working
on a big rock once it came loose and
came down and rolled down my bar and
that’s when you let go your bar
it’s not worth it Darcy barely escaped
injury today on the cliff face tomorrow
he and all the crew are facing a rock so
huge that any tiny mistake could be
fatal
