A Slow Drowning | National Geographic

I think it was a bull I can’t I can’t
say for sure but it was a full-grown
wildebeest and it got stuck in the
middle of the river and I seen him dried
away oh god man there’s a croc that does
is hanging on and this one’s giving the
fight for its life and it was pulling
and pulling and pulling and then you
know the whole herd of wildebeest went
by and this thing was still pulling and
pulling and pulling and I thought God
that that is just one tough crocodile
just not letting go well finally all of
them left and I thought well that’s it
you know that poor guy stuck in the
middle and he’s just gonna run out and
that crocodiles gonna take him down well
hour went by and then came to realize it
wasn’t crocodile at all it had just
gotten its foot stuck there in the
bottom of the river and it was pinned
and it was really sad actually because
once he realized you know you thought
like oh this poor wildebeest its first
of all across these rivers many times
because it had to be if it’s you know
that sighs um and it knows the danger
here and its worst nightmare you know
it’s stuck in the middle of the river
and it can’t get it can’t go back and it
can’t go forward and it’s just going to
sit there until some crocodile comes
along and grabs it or it just dies of
exhaustion so we stayed with it stayed
with it hoping that you know it would it
would sort of relax and break free or
something but it never did and it got
dark and we left and when we came back
in the morning sure enough it was just
floating there still hadn’t been touched
by a crocodile but it just was yeah it’s
pretty sad to see that no I mean even if
I mean it just it’s just not not a
pleasant way to go at all
