life slipping away I’m one of the
patients fighting blood cancer and I’m
the sister who wasn’t a match for the
bone marrow transplant that she needed
those patients can’t find a match in
their family so we need more people to
step up and sign up to be bone marrow
donors we know that there are heroes out
there waiting for someone to bring them
off the bench well it’s game time
America we’re starting a campaign called
sharing America’s marrow or Sam for
short beginning in january 2015 we will
journey around the country for an entire
year traveling to each of the 50 states
to host bone marrow donor drives for
donor dams as we like to call them
typical donor drives are done by
inviting people to come to you but we
are going to the people Sam will be
hosting donor jams at colleges sporting
events and concerts to change people’s
attitudes and get them excited about
giving a patient a second chance at life
because that’s something to celebrate we
want to share the stories of patient
survivors and bone marrow donors with
hopes of changing the way that people
think not just about bone marrow but
about what it means to be a member of
the human race my patient was a
nightmare boy it’s just an anxiety
process no
you’re actually saving someone’s life we
already have passionate volunteers lined
up in every state who are ready to
rumble and awesome partners who are
providing all of our supplies we would
use the 50000 dollars to buy a large van
in the gas we need to get around this
beautiful country so we can reach our
goal of registering fifty thousand
donors but we need National Geographic
and your help to make that happen it
might be strange to think about donating
to a person that you don’t know but if
your sister or your friend transplant
one day we would hope that the donor
they need saw themselves as a hero
instead of a stranger help us give
