How to Have Motivation to CHALLENGE Yourself – #OneRule

I don’t think the challenge challenge
challenge challenge challenge challenge
challenge challenge everybody
hello believe nation today we’re going
to talk about how to have motivation to
challenge yourself
psj dominates in in France you have
loads of goals awards trophies do you
think you needed a new challenge let’s
say I will never turn down a challenge
so when this challenge came when it was
presented to me I would never turn down
I’m not like many others where they
stood good they have it good and they
know they can perform at top and they
would never change but me I’m opposite I
will take the challenge now and I’ll go
for it
I’ll work hard I’ll sacrifice them then
what outcome becomes will have to wait
and see but turn down a challenge it
doesn’t exist in my world I’ve been in
every country with England now and and
that is what I find that venture cool
because I came I won and I went so
hopefully I can do the same here
involved in the project I know that’s
kind of her question because it’s
probably something
but when you think about projects that
you get involved with what is sort of
some of the key elements well I think
you know it can be really anything that
gets you interested I just always I just
want to make sure I’m gonna be
challenged the whole time because I know
if I’m not given like sort of obstacles
I don’t really I get kind of lazy I
don’t really engage in the way I want to
so if I know something’s gonna
constantly be throwing challenges at me
not in like I want to have fun you know
that I always want to enjoy what I’m
doing but something that is gonna be
that’s part of the fun I think is
getting all the you know the challenges
of it I made the conscious decision that
Linares 2005 will be my last
professional end and today I played my
last professional game is there a
maximum age or can you be a chess
champion it if you want to be at 65 it’s
very demanding game so you have to spend
time at the computer analyzing preparing
new ideas and then you just play under
this heavy pressure so we just it’s it’s
it it’s sucks a little energy out of you
so and players in their 20s or the
series they they definitely have
physical advantage so all the
competitors I probably would be able to
play a few more years but I made a
decision to retire and it was not just
overnight you know what that did and the
end of the tournament in Spain in the
city of Linares but just beforehand I
thought I already made enough difference
in the game of chess so just making
difference was important I just
recognized that maybe it’s time just to
move on so just just to start changing
my life before it’s too late so you you
can’t stay in chess indefinitely because
you need everybody needs challenges so
and I thought about our challenges one
of them of the most difficult things for
me when I first got to Hollywood was
trying to understand how it’s done I’m
now I’ve never been the person that
walked in the room and said and they say
stand here move here sit move go and do
that and do that and do this and do this
and you’ll get here I’ve been the person
that goes that move here go here do that
and I go okay well why are we doing this
I want to know why why is it done that
way is there a better way to do it is
there another way to do it and if you
tell me this is the way it’s been done
all of our lives for our whole that
makes no sense to me
I’ve always challenged it and I’m not
I’m not a rebel but I’ve challenged the
thinking and I do that a lot in my own
studio now – for people who come in with
this complete set of rules of this is
how it’s done
well does that feel right to you so it’s
about what what feels right and I’m
hoping that I can convey that why make
the move from Manchester United’s aroma
droid when he did I think everything of
a a beginning and hand and everything so
what I I do what I did in Manchester is
completely finished because I win almost
everything there so I always try for a
new challenge this is why I try to do to
move Manchester for Madrid not about the
contract is about new challenge my
family too close to my family different
whether the language everything and most
the most important things what I love is
a challenge because I really like to put
myself any pressure to see what I can
can do
don’t get scared if you don’t know
something don’t feel that you have to
very smart to do something stupid people
like us do things it works out so that’s
a fun part of it don’t feel scared about
challenging things conventional bankers
always telling me we don’t link we can’t
lend money to the poor people you know
why because they are not credit worthy I
have heard that millions of times
telling me that they are not credit
worthy
I wondered should the banks tell people
whether they are credit worthy or not or
that people should be telling the banks
whether their people were be or not you
refer you reverse the whole question
then you get it so doing the opposite
way doing the stupid way is not a bad
thing
my mother continues to be the greatest
inspiration which is if you take away
all your stuff could you do it again in
a different field see so I’m in a band
and I have a restaurant chain called
rock and brews which is at Los Angeles
and Nashville and Kansas City Maui Cabo
every it’s exploding and I own a
football team the only one in Los
Angeles called LA kiss we’re on CBS
sports ESPN and all that stuff Brandon
licensing merchandising kiss is
celebrating our 40th anniversary and boy
do I look good we continue to tour the
world I leave Friday from New York and
go to Mexico City where we’re gonna be
playing the stadium there the day after
I go to Phoenix to continue with me ink
promotion and stuff then hop on to the
Bahamas for the kiss cruise where 4000
or 5000 crazy kiss fans pay about five
grand a piece let me see that’s 20 to 25
million gross we take 70% and then I
goes into a Vegas residency in other
words the band would be enough for
anybody but I’m voracious that’s a big
word like gymnasium
I want to root I want to read everything
I want to learn stuff I don’t know
because you know the the ma the mouse
when it first starts to learn how the
maze works is alive because you don’t
know where you’re going and it’s the
hunt you know not to kill and that’s a
killer Mouse that’s going it finally
gets to the cheese now unless and if
that maze continues to change that Mouse
is going to take its time and get fat
bloated and lazy and finally get to the
Chi because it knows where it’s going
give me a new maze every day I don’t
want to I don’t want to get I don’t want
to lose my killer instinct
you know so every day as far as I’m
concerned should be a new me Inc new me
incorporated because I am the business I
am inherently a naturally an incredibly
fearful person I’m operating constantly
at like 90 percent fear threshold
I’m afraid right now I woke up afraid
I’m gonna go to bed afraid I was born
afraid I always sort of been tremulous
with fear but my only saving grace in my
life is that I am 1% more curious about
the world that I am afraid of it
and that’s all you need it just has to
be one gram more curiosity than fear
it’s not about eradicating fear it’s not
about eliminating fear it’s not about
this I think of a particularly American
thing that’s going on right now of this
idea of like kicking fear in the ass and
punching it out showing it who’s boss
this kind of extreme sports language
that a lot of people are using around
fear that doesn’t work for me because
anything I ever fight in my life tends
to fight back harder so anytime I’ve
ever tried to attack fear it just
decides to show me how much more
powerful than me it is and it just roars
to life in a much bigger way so that
whole war against fear doesn’t really
work and so for me it’s always been
about well what do I have that’s
slightly stronger than fear and for me
it’s just about kind of curiosity wonder
inquisitive Ness I’m terrified to see
what’s on the other side of that hill
but I do want to see what’s on the other
side of that hill I’m terrified to see
what will happen if I try to do this
project but I’m also like slightly more
curious to see what will happen and
oftentimes when my fear arises which it
does non-stop I try to engage in a
conversation with it and so the first
thing I do is thank it which I don’t
think we do enough I don’t think we show
enough gratitude to our fear all it’s
trying to do is keep you alive and save
your life and so I thank it for caring
about me and trying to protect me and
then I try to explain to it what I’m
doing and why we’re doing this and I
know
that your job is to tell me all the
worst outcomes that can happen but I
really want to do this and if it still
won’t back down I usually come to my
fear and I ask it for its alternative
suggestions you know okay so I want to
do this project and you my fear are
telling me not to so what do you have to
offer me what’s your suggestion and when
you challenge it like that the answer is
always nothing it has nothing to offer
it never has a better idea it has never
once had a better idea it just doesn’t
want me to do anything it would just
prefer that I stayed in a darkened room
with a cool damp cloth on my forehead
hiding from the world forever and that’s
not gonna do it for me that’s not an
interesting enough alternative and until
my fear gives me a better idea then the
cockamamie weird jacked up idea that I
have I kind of have to do the cockamamie
weird jacked up idea because at least
it’s a thing you know because the
alternative is always do something even
though it might not work and people
might not like it and you might not make
money from it and it might be strange
and it might be a disaster at least it’s
a thing the alternative that fear always
offers is a blank piece of paper I got
nothing for you
just don’t just shut it down just
nothing and for me when the alternative
is so clearly between something and
nothing I’m just not nihilistic enough
to go with nothing you know I’m just
curious enough to have to go with
something which isn’t a sort of act of
faith that it’s gonna work I had a
letter recently from a woman who said I
think I’m about ready to start writing
my book but I’m just afraid that I don’t
want to start until I’m convinced that
the universe will give me the outcome
that I want like yeah that is never
gonna happen the universe might not give
you the outcome that you want we’re not
children here like we all know jump in
the net might not catch you but the
universe will give you an outcome it’s
gonna give you something you’re gonna
know more about yourself than you did at
the beginning of the things certainly it
might not be what you wanted it might
not be what you expected but it’ll be
something
and always always always given the
choice between something and nothing I’m
going to have to choose something you
know anything you can imagine probably
is doable right you just have to imagine
it and work on it and things that we
thought were almost impossible so we
were interested in machine translation
there are services on the web we had
licensed one that which could translate
between different languages and
obviously for search you know if you
can’t if the information is not in your
language we can’t find it for you and
most information is not in your language
right this is sort of a by definition
and so we thought well be great if we
could provide search results from any
language for any query and so we’re
really focused on that problem and we
focused on it and we developed Google
Translate and we we found some machine
learning researchers and we said do you
think you can translate you know between
any languages and do it better than an
average human translator and they said
they laughed at us he said no we can’t
possibly do that but they actually were
willing to try and you know six years
later we can translate between 64
languages and it’s amazing actually
we’re better many languages were better
than an average human translating I mean
do it instantly and for free and between
those 64 languages we can translate
between any two of the languages so we
have something like 4,000 languages we
can translate between and so I’m just
trying to give you I guess I’m
tremendously optimistic to whatever
things we try to challenge whatever
challenges we try to take on we can
solve with a little bit of concerted
effort and some good technology and I
think that’s a really exciting place to
be in the world so I think we want more
people work on it we want to have more
ambitious goals and I think with that we
could easily double kind of human
progress and the rate at which were
developing another South America
but I knew I was gonna get that deal
it’s just whether I was gonna share with
Peter or not was always gonna do it I’ll
match Peters offer but my conditional
okay and it’s conditional the pattern
stand-up mram was offered the money he
needed but the ruthless dragons were
demanding much more of his business than
the original 15% he wanted to give away
I’m a little uncomfortable with the
amount of equity we’re looking at here
if we can maybe look at seventeen and a
half percent each that’s something that
I would be prepared to do so we’re
looking at around thirty five percent as
a as a combination when eventually peach
and I’ve made the offer I could see in
his eyes was gonna negotiate actually
they really enjoy when people come back
to negotiate you should challenge
everything my challenge everything in my
life I changed my staff I challenged
everybody and they tell me something I
don’t make sure they’ve got it right
there somebody offers me something I
make sure that’s the best price we’re
taking I’m taking a flier here but I
would be willing to meet you halfway
okay I don’t for 20 percent and if
Theo’s I’m taking that flyer that’s why
so that would mean that you’d get a
hundred and forty thousand pounds today
mm-hmm you get Theo and I but for and
for forty percent
as well as your finances your expertise
is of the really sort of attracts me in
the individual aspects that you can
bring to it and on that basis I would be
happy to do the deal as you watch the
video if you hear something you really
