got it they go out of a way to try and
show people that they have it it’s time
to stay focused it’s time to decide

fit in and socialize rub elbows with
everybody so people can stop calling you
weird why are you so antisocial because
I’m trying to get it why are you staying
on the basketball court so much because
I’m trying to get it why are you out
there practicing in the hot Sun when
ain’t nobody else out there because I’m
trying to get it why are you not
clubbing like every time I text you and
invite you to go do something fun and
cool you always studying because I’m
trying to get it let me tell you
something homey the more weird you are
is a reflection of how committed you are
to focus in on your shit
molding and shaping and developing your
ideas and your crab so the one is time
for you to make your rounds you gonna

you still got work to do stay on that

entirety of that blast in his face in
his chest now because Mike was such a
hard individual he lasted for another 35
minutes before he passed away on the

next to them
what we do determine completely is the
way we treat the people in our lives and
in my experience that also has
immeasurably greater bearing on how we

compassionately
oh he had to do is jump down that
stairwell to save his own life but he

sacrificing himself so his two brothers

people who tell you what they think

for yourself and once you define that
for yourself you can then begin your
true vocation your god-given purpose the
tightest knots in my stomach come from
the realization that I’ve been unkind
and the highest swells of my spirit come

tender and true
for the past 20 years I have been
exploring the human condition around the
world so but in that time 15 frigid
waters of the Pacific Ocean to the
mountains of Afghanistan on seven
different occasions and to the shores of
Haiti doing missionary work with my
church and what I’ve learned in this
incredible journey are a few undeniable
truths about what enables us to succeed
now truth number one is you got fear in
your heart always and you can’t defeat
it
the problem is ladies and gentlemen is
you’re wired for fear right
you’ve got fear that’s built into your
little gray matter right up there like
that okay in your gray matter you’ve got
this thing called the amygdala and this
amygdala is your flight or flight so if

have fear in your life period and we
need it for survival it’s a good thing

for your whole life as well we have that
it’s part of our lives we have it in
what we do for a living right you guys

you talk about fear and dealing with
clients you talk about fear and meeting
numbers you talk about fear in your
lives and your personalized with your

what you have to learn to do is embrace
it truth one the second one is
self-confidence is really important

the third one is you got to live with
purpose if you don’t have purpose in

my mom my dad were the biggest
influences my life no one supported my
athletic career more than he did I got
drafted to play baseball on June 8th
2010 and the next night my dad passed
away before I walk through the door I
can see the EKG moving just fine I take
one step into the door and I said dad

I miss my dad every single day people
have asked me if I had five more minutes
with them or what I say to him but I
wouldn’t say anything at all but just
hug him that’s what I do because that’s
the kind of relationship my dad and I
had he gave me so much and maybe maybe
most of all he gave me the gift of
perspective losing him was hard but but
thinking about him now I don’t feel sad
I feel blessed I feel blessed for all
the days we got together I feel blessed
because I know he’s in a better place
and I feel blessed knowing that if he
were here today the thing that he must
be proud of isn’t a Super Bowl ring or
new contract or a big speech at Camp
Randall he’d be proud of my family what
a strong woman my mom is but my brother
how well he’s doing about the amazing
amazing young young woman my sister has
become that’s what he’d be proud of
that’s my third charge to the graduates
and maybe maybe it’s the hardest one of
them all
when life tells you no find a way to
keep things in perspective that doesn’t
make the painful moments any less
painful but it does mean you don’t have
to live forever in the pain you don’t
have to live forever in that now because
if you know what you’re capable of if
you’re always prepared you keep things
in perspective the life has a way of
turning them no it’s a yes we all bleed
red what I care about is there’s
something that gets you out of bed every
morning there’s something that you have
faith in that’s bigger than yourself
there’s something that you’re willing to
sacrifice for another human being that’s
powerful are you working on it are you
working on it right now
don’t you work on it today are you gonna
go work on it tonight the question isn’t
whether you have something to offer to
the world you definitely have something
to offer to the world the question is
how and whether you’ll do it when life
tells you no stay ready always be ready
the fact is we’ve been quitting for a
long time folks the problem is I hope
nobody has these grand quits in their
life that they regret but the reality is
we all quit every bit a little bit every
day what you have to start doing is
pulling those back a little bit trimming
them away and get rid of them whether
you want a teammate need your help
or you’re gonna be more positive when
you interact with them or they’re
looking for help and you don’t tell them
well I I’m just too busy I’ll get back
to you tomorrow those are forms of
quitting and that’s not committed to
your team when you think about what’s
actually important in the world when
you’re going out to pursue your location

what do you want to be and who can you
help along the way asking yourself these
questions will only help you to
understand what you want to do
now if my dad were here with us this is
the point where he remind us that
potential just means we haven’t done it
yet you know he’d be right but if we
need but if we do what we need to in
life tells us know if we know what we’re
capable of
if we stay prepared no matter what if we
keep our sense of perspective even when
times are tough and I know that together
we’re going to do amazing things with
our potential and achieve our greatest

hard individual he lasted for another 35

next to them
what we do determine completely is the
way we treat the people in our lives and
in my experience that also has
immeasurably greater bearing on how we

stairwell to save his own life but he

the realization that I’ve been unkind

for the past 20 years I have been

world so but in that time 15 frigid
waters of the Pacific Ocean to the
mountains of Afghanistan on seven
different occasions and to the shores of
Haiti doing missionary work with my
church and what I’ve learned in this
incredible journey are a few undeniable
truths about what enables us to succeed
now truth number one is you got fear in
your heart always and you can’t defeat
it
the problem is ladies and gentlemen is
you’re wired for fear right
you’ve got fear that’s built into your
little gray matter right up there like

this thing called the amygdala and this
amygdala is your flight or flight so if

for your whole life as well we have that
it’s part of our lives we have it in

you talk about fear and dealing with
clients you talk about fear and meeting
numbers you talk about fear in your
lives and your personalized with your
family folks we’ve got fear period so
what you have to learn to do is embrace
it truth one the second one is
self-confidence is really important
self-confidence is huge it’s important

the third one is you got to live with
purpose if you don’t have purpose in
your life you don’t have momentum you

my mom my dad were the biggest
influences my life no one supported my
athletic career more than he did I got
drafted to play baseball on June 8th
2010 and the next night my dad passed
away before I walk through the door I
can see the EKG moving just fine I take
one step into the door and I said dad

I miss my dad every single day people
have asked me if I had five more minutes
with them or what I say to him but I
wouldn’t say anything at all but just
hug him that’s what I do because that’s
the kind of relationship my dad and I
had he gave me so much and maybe maybe
most of all he gave me the gift of
perspective losing him was hard but but
thinking about him now I don’t feel sad
I feel blessed I feel blessed for all
the days we got together I feel blessed
because I know he’s in a better place
and I feel blessed knowing that if he
were here today the thing that he must
be proud of isn’t a Super Bowl ring or
new contract or a big speech at Camp
Randall he’d be proud of my family what
a strong woman my mom is but my brother
how well he’s doing about the amazing
amazing young young woman my sister has
become that’s what he’d be proud of
that’s my third charge to the graduates
and maybe maybe it’s the hardest one of
them all
when life tells you no find a way to
keep things in perspective that doesn’t
make the painful moments any less
painful but it does mean you don’t have
to live forever in the pain you don’t
have to live forever in that now because
if you know what you’re capable of if
you’re always prepared you keep things
in perspective the life has a way of
turning them no it’s a yes we all bleed
red what I care about is there’s
something that gets you out of bed every
morning there’s something that you have
faith in that’s bigger than yourself
there’s something that you’re willing to
sacrifice for another human being that’s
powerful are you working on it are you
working on it right now
don’t you work on it today are you gonna
go work on it tonight the question isn’t
whether you have something to offer to
the world you definitely have something
to offer to the world the question is
how and whether you’ll do it when life
tells you no stay ready always be ready
the fact is we’ve been quitting for a
long time folks the problem is I hope
nobody has these grand quits in their
life that they regret but the reality is
we all quit every bit a little bit every
day what you have to start doing is
pulling those back a little bit trimming
them away and get rid of them whether
you want a teammate need your help
or you’re gonna be more positive when
you interact with them or they’re
looking for help and you don’t tell them
well I I’m just too busy I’ll get back
to you tomorrow those are forms of
quitting and that’s not committed to
your team when you think about what’s
actually important in the world when
you’re going out to pursue your location

what do you want to be and who can you
help along the way asking yourself these
questions will only help you to

now if my dad were here with us this is
the point where he remind us that
potential just means we haven’t done it
yet you know he’d be right but if we
need but if we do what we need to in

keep our sense of perspective even when
times are tough and I know that together

were better don’t wish for less problems
wish for more skills
you might go home and set a whole new
pace for yourself and we call it
cleaning up neglect should walk around

are many let’s take care of your
disciplines when the amounts are small
and then life we’ll see to it that you
get some extraordinary numbers to work

here do not disregard the smallest of
disciplines let us not neglect do not
neglect the smallest of disciplines and
build on that foundation and you can
have everything you could possibly want
you say well what can I do about the
upcoming winters of my life the
challenges that I know I’m gonna face
here’s what you can do you can get wiser
and stronger and better just make a list
of that trio of words wiser stronger
better go home smarter than you came go

next get stronger you can develop a
muscle you can develop the courage
muscle you can develop the inspiration
muscle you can develop the dedication
muscle you can get stronger there’s
anybody here that can’t get stronger
next time we see you may not even

ability to handle it

happens the key is not to wish for a

enemies are on the outside but here’s
the most important thing to understand
some of our enemies are on the inside
let me give you a quick list
indifference you got to do battle with
your own indifference boy it’s easy to
coast especially if you’ve accomplished
something you know extraordinary now
somebody says I gotta relax here’s the
key not too long the weeds will take all
you plan to be rest too long don’t rest
too long in decision you got to make
those decisions the ones that don’t turn
out to be good gives you the experience
to make better decisions
don’t let much time go by without making
some decisions the ones that you can
make quickly make them quickly the ones
that take time take your time but get
those decisions made don’t let
indecision be an enemy rob you of the
future empty your bank account leave you
with zero in the purse don’t let that
happen
the next one is doubt
sure there’s doubts on the outside
people doubt that America is gonna make
it people doubt that Europe is gonna
make people doubt that Russia is gonna
make it the Poland’s gonna make it the
Czechoslovakia is gonna make they doubt
the whole world is gonna make it but I’m
asking you not to pick up all those
doubts I’m asking you to have some faith
have some courage believe drive your
doubts into a small corner
don’t let them loose like a mad dog
drive you into a small corner don’t
doubt the future don’t doubt the
possibilities don’t doubt the
extraordinary gifts that your
distributors bring to your organization
don’t doubt that here’s the most
important one of all don’t doubt
yourself if I’ve got miracle-working
power to change my life so do you if
I’ve got the ability to change so do you
if I’ve got the ability to read so do
you if I can discover so can you if I
can grow you can grow
