to break the mainstream which has become
dumbed down and he’s struggling right he
wants to know how can he promote a good
message at the same time be very popular
let me share with you why I stopped
listening to mainstream rap music
because there’s a difference between rap
music and hip-hop I love hip-hop
I hate rap music right in back in the
day I used to go to a place called deal
real in London shout out to all the
people that used to go there can I get a
Hello yeah and a lot of famous artists
right now used to go there I saw Kanye
West before he blew up John Legend and
it was a fantastic vibe just to see so
much creativity for me that was hip hop
it was all about open mic nights
freestyling freestyling spoken word and
it felt so good
now the hip hop right now has been
co-opted it’s not hip hop because it’s a
rap and it’s all about degrading women
putting out a message of fear hate
yourself
and that’s why let me give you some tips
you see you can have a conscious message
and still be super popular you’ve got
people like Kendrick Lamar who is saying
I love myself right you know how
powerful that message is just for it to
be played on a radio so it’s all about
realizing if it’s hot then it’s hot
right you’ve got to learn how to not go
over people’s heads because I’m a
producer
also an artist as well so you don’t want
to start saying I die set atoms and turn
it into wavelength frequencies and
that’s amazing what are you talking
about there right and that’s what I used
to do you got to simplify it like jay-z
said he had to slow down the speed of
his voice just for people to understand
it because he used to rap really fast
same as Big L right so you gotta realize
that much of humanity has been dumbed
down so you’ve got to ask yourself why
are the so-called rappers who are lying
about everything blowing up right what
is drawing people to listen to them
because many of them are talking about
their experiences right some of it is
not all positive most of it is negative
but you see most people on the planet
are drawn to fear so you’ve got to take
what some of some of what they are
saying and infuse it with your positive
message right you don’t want to be too
clean cup you don’t want to show the
whole world how perfect you are you’ve
got to be a bit rugged a bit rough more
so you’ve got to be authentic but you’ve
got to be smart you’ve got to be
authentic but you’ve got to be smart
there is a science of what sells and
what doesn’t right you’ve got to be
super creative you’ve also when
everyone’s going right you’ve got to go
left when people are going up you got to
go down
people are going sideways you’ve got to
go go sideways as well man you’ve got to
have fun right energy is contagious
positive energy is contagious and the
world is ready for it music is the
universal language so just remind
