usually in the form of a concealable
gadget it seems like secret agents
always have a trick up their sleeve like
a pen so today I’ll try and find
inspiration for my own custom spy pen by
comparing some of the coolest gadgets
with the potential parts and technology

alright so this design is by a creator
on Thingiverse by the name of must-see
mus sy it’s one of those bolt action
pens and what’s really cool is you can
take it apart and customize if you can
3d print different parts I think this is
really cool and my end goal is to try
and create my own custom spy pen so I
need your help in the comment section
and also I’ll leave a little pull up
here where you can click on what your
favorite idea is so to get some
inspiration we’re going to be looking at
some other products every day carry
gadgets we have some pocket torches also
some stuff that may be standalone a
secret-agent would already carry as a
self-defense gadget and then I’ll
transition over to some different parts
and components that we could actually
fit into a custom 3d printed design

and what’s really cool is you can take
it apart and customize you can 3d print
different parts I kind of had some
problems with 3d printing this with the
supports so I ended up printing it all
in one piece alright so you might think
this one is silly but it’s kind of like
the thing that started it all July 2nd
1999 I think I was probably like 6 years
old but I always wanted this spy pen I
bought this on eBay for like 5 bucks and
I just think that this is so cool for a
Burger King toy so comes with these
little darts and some other little
targets which I’m sure you don’t really
care too much about but curious kind of
goes like that and you just launch it
with a pen basically a safety feature
you slide this forward you can’t
actually load a dart in while the pen is
engaged to I guess protect kids from
shooting themselves in the face and then
you slide it back and you do load the
dart and then you have this little flip
up sight really incredible I mean this
thing well they probably made a small
batch and they decided to go into this
extreme detail this is kind of what
started it all you know the interest in
these sort of spy gadgets and I just
think that’s really cool and it’s
somewhat inspired some other builds of
mine so the next gadget is the guard
father ice pick here is a little button
and you can conceal that and this gadget
reminds me so much of some stuff that
I’ve seen like mission impossible and
James Bond
you may remember this because I modified
it to kind of shoot these darts instead
of having it lock in place like so so
this is the upgraded version and you can
see I three printed this little trigger
here and I made a little catch out of a
piece of metal these are your darts
which are little crossbow bolts without
the flashing on the back I took that off
this slides and you can see there’s a
pretty powerful spring there so you load
this in the back take your rod and then
you just kind of compress the to screw
it in place so if you want to see this

okay so these are pen torches warning
there’s fuel in here so unfortunately
this one stopped working because I tried
filling it up with propane actually Matt
gas instead of butane so I think some of
these seals are broken on it I don’t
know exactly but there’s a little
igniter so that you could have a pencil
torch and then you could actually use
this as a soldering iron because it
would heat up like a little tip however
this one still works and I was just
thinking that this would work really
well as like some sort of pocket
flamethrower

this one is just shooting the blow torch
flame whereas this one may have
malfunctioned so you can see right in
the back here there’s like a little
refuel valve I kind of hear the gas
Oh so see how this is shooting out
liquid fuel that is potential right
there so this proves to me that you can
have a pen sized fuel cartridge that’s
able to house enough pressure to create
a flame thrower like effect it’s about
to combine these two it might work cuz
you’d have like a pilot and the actual
fuel it doesn’t have the best range but
if someone was trying to mess with me
and this is what I had I go for it you
know but it does run out of fuel pretty
quickly however four quick bursts to get
yourself out of a sticky situation like
a personal self-defense flamethrower
there’s a lot of potential here so make

the try tack pen and the Blitz blade 2.0
so the Tritech pens pretty cool I mean
it’s got this nice little bolt action
for the cartridge spring-loaded
then we have a knife here and then they
snuck in this little glass breaker tip
which is pretty cool so what I like
about this is they used almost all of
the surfaces and I’m going to take this
thing apart and see kind of how the
cartridge goes in there because I might
sort of gut this and use the really nice
cartridge but you maybe screw this out
yep aha
very simple do you have this little
spring here and then this part was maybe
like like a CNC milled or something or
CNC lathe so that is really cool and I
bet we could probably use this in the 3d
printed pen I’m gonna go nah so it
doesn’t really work with this length of
this I’m gonna have to adjust it but
maybe I’ll create my own little piece
like this I don’t know what you want to
call it the little bolt with my logo on
it or something so like the simplicity
of this I like that I can obviously take
it apart and we’re just looking at all
the best features of these and then
maybe we can kind of combine them all to
create something pretty cool so this is
the Blitz Blade 2.0 what I want to take
away from this is that there’s just an
amazing amount of gadgets built into
here so this is the glass breaker tip
can fit these little screwdriver bits
and it comes with a couple other
attachments so that’s really cool the
versatility you put in the little like
pry bar that’s pretty neat and the last
thing is this flashlight hollow out the
handle so you can fit another gadget in
there make it so that something’s
versatile and you can swap it and still
have it lock in place without having to
add some extra threads so the takeaway
from this is to try and be as efficient
as possible with the amount of space
that you have all right so let’s take a
look at some future modifications that I
think would be pretty cool you guys can
help me decide by clicking this little
pull up here on which one of these you
want me to try and integrate first so
this product is from miniature army comm
check them out they sent this to us I
filmed it in a day and it’s just so
amazing on its own that people just
loved it so this breaks into sections
and I can print whichever one I want
depending on what suits me so if I
wanted to have like a break action
barrel I’d have the handle there and
then if I wanted to sort of hollow this
out and create a little slot for the
miniature flare going to sit in there
so the handle could store some of the
flares and all the other parts that are
needed then we could have a flip-up
sight which is inspired by this Burger
King toy so let me know what you think
about this idea I personally am gonna
build it no matter what because I think
it’s really cool or I’m gonna build it

so this is the guts of a plasma lighter
so I could use this kind of as like an
ignition source for that flamethrower I
was talking about this it’s like the
world’s smallest stun gun I mean that’s
pretty freakin cool you could probably
fit that into like a gadget like this I
mean this is about the same width here
so this is a little tiny pea lighter
probably one of the third or fourth
videos I ever did
it was called the sky lighter it was a
rocket launcher in a highlighter and I
dremeled out the back of it so that I
could fit in this little stack here so I
use this to ignite the Rockets I thought
that was really cool very compact I
could easily see this fitting into
something like this it’s almost even the
same diameter so this is a pretty cool
little clear lock it’s used for
practicing how to lockpick and it comes
with this little gadget here that I was
thinking would be kind of cool addition
to a spy pen you know spies are always
picking locks and just really peculiar

but it it’s not that easy so this little
fold-out lockpick set I could see how
that would fit into a little tactical
pen of some sort little belt clip even
though it’s the tensioning bar for
messing and turning the lock after
you’ve picked it fitting the lock picks
in there
that’d be really neat especially if it
can kind of come out the top it’s
similar to like a regular pen would I
like OOP and you pick your lock and
you’re good to go
obviously that’s not what this is for
but you get the point using the same
exact laser from that project a little
while ago it’s funny this is just U is
for machine I think this could easily
fit into some sort of laser pen by
modifying our model here probably fit
some coin cell batteries into something
like this I think I’m gonna probably end
up designing it from the ground up so
you have like a burning spy pen on the
other side I think that’d be a pretty
cool project that I might do you should
