anybody that’s in their 20s or their 30s
or fewer teenagers share this video with
them look I was recently on a podcast
with an entrepreneur named Petros and we
started talking about vision planning
long-term preparation how do you look at
it how are you you know preparing on
what you’re gonna be doing next what are
you gonna be doing next Pat everybody’s
trying to figure out is it insurance as
a titania what is your next school what
is the next thing you’re trying to do
and I told him I said I had a plan that
I came up with and it was called the
2020 2020 plan for 20s and he asked what
is it
I said look in the first 20 years of
your life the goal is to not make a
massive dumb mistake what am I talking
about cocaine felony gangster you know
getting arrested anything that’s gonna
set you back yours I remember one time I
was in Vegas I was 14 years old hanging
out with a few friends so at that time
you know affiliation with gangs and
we’re at a red light in Las Vegas and we
get into with another group from New
York they got out there at their guns we
had our anyways was pretty ugly we’ve
got in the streets we started running
cops are chasing me and I get up finally
I get to my place Tropicana was when my
dad and his friend Albert and I told
this story to my dad 20 years later and
I go upstairs like what are you why are
you breathing so hard what’s going on
said nothing it’s fine I’m just gonna go
to sleep and I’m so nervous I just
thought I was gonna die I go back today
if that day we got cotton I got it funny
I got arrested I’m not Patrick we David
today what’s gonna set me back for town
we’re never gonna be able to get into
the financial industry because you can’t
put out a felony first 20 years don’t
make that big dumb mistake so the first
one is a bit of caution second 20 years
it’s career I wanted to find one career
and give 20 years to it so many people
look around I’m gonna do this I’m gonna
do that I’m gonna do this I’m gonna do
that I want to give 20 years to career
so my skill was sales it was gonna be in
sales it had to do with money it had to
be in the financial industry and I chose
stocks bonds mutual funds and it got
specific to insurance and I stayed in
insurance and I’ve been in insurance
since 2012
Shirin still today that’s what 16 years
right 20 years to one industry financial
industry 17 years and then the next 20
years is the next C word creativity this
is when you have the opportunity to take
the money that you made and be creative
with it what kind of creativity whatever
it is there’s that creative element that
you have to yourself where you can get
creative with your kids with your wife
with your family with your friends you
think you’re creative with projects you
do you know that’s just a getting a part
of you out that’s the childlike part of
you that’s out for you and your forties
you’re 48 you’re 47 I look at a rock is
being childlike you know I look at some
of these guys they have a certain
element of childlike you know I look at
Barack Obama’s right now have an element
of being childlike of having a show on
Netflix what are you doing having a show
on Netflix who cares that’s to him
that’s part of his creativity Trump had
his apprentice that he did during that
period it’s creativity it’s like the
c-word is creative and then the last C
word is contribution and contribution to
me it’s public service you go into
politics you go into education you’re
going to charity but you figure out a
way to give back to all the incredible
experiences you’ve had in life so it’s
very simple first 20 years caution don’t
make a big stupid mistake experience all
you want don’t do it overly to the point
where you’re making a dumb mistake in
your setback 15 years I’m telling you if
I don’t go into the financial industry
I’m so Stalin gym memberships today I’m
not gonna be doing what I’m doing today
what would I be doing I don’t have a
four-year degree I don’t have like an
engineering degree to fall back on and
go work at Raytheon or go be a dentist
or lawyer I don’t have a two-year old
four year degree no big mistakes first
20 years second 20 years career put your
head down and just become the best at
whatever industry you’re part of only
obsessed committed to it third twenty
years creative you can still be running
a business but you’re finding some of
that money that you have now find ways
to play some have some fun with it you
know expand it build it into other
things but be creative with that money
that you make and let that creativity
side of you that release that can come
out during that 20 years and our last 20
years contribution give back for all the
incredible experiences that you had so

years LeBron has been playing in the NBA
for 15 years and he’s been playing for a
long time but he’s been in the NBA for
15 years so he’s probably gonna end up
playing 23 24 years because he wants to
play with his son 20 years the bigger
the scale you can go but sit down and
write it up for yourself what those 20
will look like and if you know anybody
that’s a teenager get this message
across that I’m a brother a sister a kid
a neighbor a friend someone’s kid you’re
near nephew niece they need to watch
this to be thinking about the 2020 2020
