How to Create a Blog with 50 Million Views- Addicted2Success- Part 2

so what’s your biggest challenge as an
entrepreneur you wake up every single
morning what’s your biggest challenge
yet as an entrepreneur to be the biggest
challenge would be that you you can
never foresee how anything is really
going to turn out and I think that on
this is what I tell a lot of people a
lot of people are coaches what was that
you know life is a series of experiments
and you have to be a mad freakin
scientist to do well at it you need to
get in there you need to experiment like
look at someone like Albert Einstein
look at Elon Musk like these guys they
they live passionately curious like that
in there
they’re so passionately curious as to
like what if I did this or what if I did
that or how can we make this happen
and they learn it inside out so they can
go and apply it like so like Elon he
didn’t know anything about rockets he
went to read books so that he could
launch a rocket now this guy’s freaking
landing rockets on this tiny little
platform out in the middle of the ocean
and launching rockets to Mars and
wherever else so yeah you got to be
passionately curious and that’s the only
way you can really you know overcome
that little challenge of not knowing
exactly how things are gonna go always
know that you’re gonna have to
experiment and fine tune and tweak it
along the way it’s interesting who are
you on high school sorry who are you in
high school if I was in high school with
you you know tenth grade 11th grade who
was Joel Brown in high school I’m
curious oh I was a little white boi
trihard rapper that’s a lot rapping and
actually quite a few people said I was
pretty good at it you know cuz I was
recording it the little wood studio I
had set up in my in my bedroom and um
and yeah I mean I look man to be honest
I didn’t really enjoy high school I felt
very boxed in and I couldn’t wait to get
out I think that’s just like how a lot
of entrepreneurs probably felt coming up
in high school was seen their going when
the hell am I ever gonna use algebra
like I’d rather be learning sales or
design and so on um so yeah high school
wasn’t a huge thing for me for me I was
the guy that like everyone knew and I
hung around everybody I didn’t care if
you were like you know the nerdy type or
the popular type or whatever I was
friends with a lot of people and I used
to protect a lot of people I didn’t like
the injustice I didn’t like when people
getting bullied
so on I was very strong against that so
interesting yeah I 16th of April 1987
16th of April man how interesting is
that six April you didn’t like bullies
you don’t like people getting bullied in
so you were you were you were Australian
Vanilla Ice or more like an Australian
mmm which a lot
yeah probably somewhere in between no
good enough Eminem’s everyone’s like one
of the best so I can’t really compete
last name is no way some somewhere in
between he’s something else
I remember when ice ice baby came out we
were in Germany it was the biggest hit
until 21 days later they said he got
that little tool from somebody else but
okay so let me ask you a question so a
lot of people may be watching the st.
Joe 53 million views I mean that’s more
than most countries in the world
you know population in California you
got more people that looked at your site
than a four year span not even a four
year span three or ten months span then
you know some people living in a country
or state like the one we’re in so I’m
just a regular guy I am a you know real
estate person I am a stay home mom
I am a you know someone who’s got three
daughters I’m raising I’m passionate
about X Y Z how do I go about starting
my own blog and what are the chances of
somebody reading my material and how do
I get myself out there and be able to
tell my story maybe not as big of a
skill as yours but how do I get
something started what would you say to
someone like that yeah so what you want
to do is you want to set yourself up on
WordPress okay don’t go for anything
else right just go WordPress are self
hosted so you’re going register the
domain register your web hosting and
then install WordPress on your web place
and you’ll be able to do that through
the control panel we debit whoever it is
GoDaddy or whoever right and what you
then do is there’s a site called theme
forest dotnet and maybe you could put
this in like at the bottom of the video
some of the resources would be good
so themeforest.net and then at
themeforest.net you can pick your theme
and basically essentially what a theme
is is it’s basically like the template
the display
lay out how the site’s gonna look you
can install that into WordPress and it
lays out you’ve got to kind of jig it
around and do some laying out you so if
you’re gonna add in logos and add
widgets and so on but it’s good it gives
you a professional look very quickly you
know you don’t have to go and get a
coder to do it all unless it’s like some
advanced changes that you need to be
made and what you need to do is you need
to start working on content and I’m not
talking like you know go and see what
somebody else is written and write an
article like that I mean like straight
from the head straight from the heart
like come up with your own stuff and
that’s the biggest thing is that a lot
of people now and I see it with addicted
to success there’s so many copycat
people and to me that’s not a problem I
don’t worry about that I actually I have
people that come to me that are like hey
Joel you know can I contribute to your
site I look at that side I’m like a see
that is copycat stuff and I say to them
I don’t feel they’re a threat but I say
to them look man do yourself a favor and
try and come up with your own stuff
because that’s how you win in the long
run and what people don’t understand is
that like a lot of people worry that if
they give their best stuff away that’s
it they’re empty tank that aren’t have
anything yours which is the complete
opposite you want to give all your best
stuff away right give all your best
stuff away and it’s like writing a book
if you’re out there like promoting and
giving the best value the best advice
and it’s gonna be product probably 75%
of what’s in your book people were gonna
buy your book anyway because they’re
like this guy is incredible I want this
I want I want that information in a hard
copy form I want it and you give them
the rest as kind of like a bonus that
they haven’t heard it’s part of the book
and that’s why a lot of these guys are
through the you know New York Times
bestselling authors a lot of them
already sharing all their greatest
advice to share it with people man
they’re not stingy they’re not like they
don’t have that scarcity mindset
worrying that if they give everything
away that they won’t have anything else
in return it’s you give as much as you
want away like that’s that’s why we have
53 million views because for the longest
time and I wasn’t charging for it for
anything we don’t charge for the content
that’s on addicted to success I’ve
people coming to me all the time going
mad if you turn all that content that
you guys have written and even my other
authors as well that I’ve written like
you know you guys could be putting books
together and and you know cost us and so
on
which we’re going to be doing but we’re
not gonna recycle the same constant we
have we’re coming up with new things
because we’ve learnt to be creative
because we’ve learned to be unique got
it what’s up so so I’m a person I want
to start it I set up my WordPress I get
my own look on the blog I started
writing as a new person how often should
I contribute something on my blog that
I’m creating what would you suggest as a
newbie a good number it’s three times a
week three time can do more it’s better
more is better
but obviously quality as well so they
never like quality always Trump’s
quantity but at the same time like if
you can keep articles coming up consider
keep consistency that’s the thing like
if you if you go like one wake you post
one article then the next week you post
five and a week after that you post to
you and then a week after that you post
ten it kind of confuses your viewers
after a while like they’re like they
don’t know what to expect they come back
to your site one week thinking is gonna
be five new articles and there’s only
one and they leave you remember that we
have the attention span now of pretty
much like a goldfish that’s what they
say right five seconds or whatever it is
yeah if you come in and you’re late bang
you get distracted by Facebook or other
things that are going on so you really
want to make sure that whatever you’re
doing is consistent people know what’s
gonna let it’s gonna be released on that
day at that time I think that works best
man from what I’ve heard from a lot of
other bloggers through that’s that’s a
good way to do it I’ll do your mail outs
on a certain day of certain time so
people can expect it interesting do you
read a lot of yourself are you big
reader yourself yeah I went through a
stage so I read a lot before I started
addicted to success and then I started
slowing down on the ratings so that I
wasn’t unconsciously copying what other
people were doing I was trying to like
write my own stuff I don’t look at other
competitors I haven’t I did a rough idea
of what they’re doing out there but I
don’t go to their sites and go all
looking for inspiration for content
because the moment you do that you start
to create this like kind of crutch for
yourself couldn’t agree more
it’s you know it’s always yeah thanks
man and it’s good to just like to
challenge your your your creativity man
that’s creativity is like a muscle
you’ve got to challenge it every day and
sometimes I sit down I’ll write out a
bunch of ideas on a list and a right and
right all right all right
next day right all right all right my
those ideas I’m gonna comment to a
fruition then
because I’m challenging my my mind to
come up with new creative things I and
that’s how you become better and better
I become more innovative you challenge
the norm so what what was it that when
you first got started maybe Gary
Vaynerchuk we read all his books I think
he’s got crush it thank you and the last
one he wrote right hook yeah yeah yeah
that one right there it’s more about how
you do Instagram how you do these he was
given examples on who does it the right
way what did you learn from Gary if you
were to say these are three things I
learned from Gary that can apply to
anybody what would you say those three
things were yeah so Gary I actually a
crush it was like my Bible when I first
started came across I listened to the
audio then I went and bought like a few
copies of the books gave a couple way to
my friends I had the book I had the
chance to actually make Gary in New York
at the end of lot not last year the year
before that at the vaynermedia offices
we sat down and did an interview with
him we had a chat and he’s awesome guy
man he’s personable like he’s like it’s
like a guy it’s like you’ve been friends
with him the whole time you know like
when you meet him he’s just like super
down-to-earth humble guy very smart very
intelligent and he went through his book
he originally like he talked me through
through crush it that’s you know
whatever your passion is you can always
turn it into a business a profitable
business because you’re not gonna be the
only one that just like said there’s got
to be more people out there that do and
that time I don’t he’s just kind of
instilled the hope of of having that
freedom lifestyle of not having to work
a day job there’s one thing that he
taught me before I ever knew him before
I ever knew me and then the other two
things would be second one is to build
community right engage a lot engage
engage engage so on Twitter I make an
effort to like especially my i am joe
brown account on twitter which is just
my personal joe brown account i engage a
lot i reply to people away keep it
interactive like every person that you
reply to you pretty much made a new
friend
like i you know you can’t say best
friends but like they if they somehow
now have invested some interest in you
because you’ve replied to them and
they’ve reached out to you initially
because they respect you so when you
return that you know respect reflects at
the end of the day so yeah it’s
it’s good man it’s good for long-term
good for quality is good for building
community and the third thing that Gary
taught me as well is self-awareness and
that was when I was in New York with
Gary in the vaynermedia offices and he
he said to me it’s like you know you
don’t want to fake it you know you
really should focus on your strengths
and don’t don’t worry so much about your
weaknesses like a lot of people like
it’s good to try and get a little bit
better in there is it weekend but but no
at the end of the day like what are you
gonna do you’re gonna wait like for me
I’m I’m six foot but I’m still not tall
enough to be competing against someone
like Shaq or LeBron James you know so
why would I go in and try and play you
know in the NBA and I’m too old for that
now man 22:27 a sec so uh so yeah so he
basically he’s saying like you know
focus on your strengths know like be
self-aware of what you’re good at even
ask your friends as well like you know
what am I good at what do you think I’m
good at like what is my my top quality
you know and and be real with yourself
because at the end of the day like all
we can really do is like amplify what we
are good at and and when you do amplify
what you’re good at that’s when you you
know you put good stuff out there people
love it they’re drawn to it and and
you’re really gonna excel so yeah that’s the advice I learned from the Avenger
