How to Get a British Accent – Lesson 7 – “L and T pronunciation”

all right at this accent lesson we’re
looking at ELLs and T’s so starting with
the ELLs if the L is in the middle of
the word so for example silly chilly
million you will pronounce it like this
silly chilly million if the L is at the
end of the word it could have a W sound
so bottle or bottle another way of
saying sick is ill so you could say I’m
ill JP is ill or a meal a meal
you would pronounce it metallic are not
metallica metallica another common
question we get is about the t1 is the
true t and the glottal t we spoke about
that before and the other is like an
american t remember the true t we
actually pronounce it the glottal t it
stops in the throat so let’s choose the
word like water true T water pronounce
the T glottal T water the T is caught in
throat the American Way the T can sound
like a D water tap sounds like a duck
other examples are named like Matty with
a true T sounds like Matty glottal T
Matty
the American team Maddie again it sounds
like a deal with the American English
sometimes for us it’s difficult to know
whether you’re saying Maddie with DS or
Matty with T’s if an American says see
you in the next class in that class we
teach you how to sound posh or common
