hello and welcome back to english with
lucy today i’m going to be answering all
of the questions that you sent in i’m
going to be answering questions from my
instagram at my facebook and my Weibo
so thank you to everybody who sent me a
question and hopefully you’re also get
answered today quickly before we get
started don’t forget to follow me on all
of my social media all of it should be
here I’ve got my facebook my Weibo my
Instagram and my uh my youtube channel
of course and as you might have seen in
the last video I’ve recently in created
a patreon account and this is just a way
that you can sponsor my videos and earn
some really nice rewards like Skype
lessons cards and things like that and I
must say thank you to my first sponsor
on there which is Jaime and he pledged
$10 and he will be getting a letter in
the post very soon okay gioconda
underscore Ross asks can you talk about
the myths and the realities of the
English character okay let’s talk about
a couple of the English stereotypes then
firstly we like tea well we do like tea
if there’s ever a problem the answer the
number one answer is let’s have a cup of
tea if you need an important discussion
let’s have a cup of tea it’s a is a big
part of British culture another one that
we say sorry a lot this is true anyone
who lives in England or the UK will
realize that we say sorry a lot when
it’s not necessary and when I moved to
Spain I was saying sorry and please and
thank you all the time until one of my
friends was saying like Lucy sound
desperate stop apologizing but yeah a
myth we’re very closed a lot of the
students that I teach in London say Oh
God English people are just so
unfriendly and I don’t think that London
is a good representation of the UK as a
whole so I would say that we’re very
friendly maybe not as friendly as some
other nationalities but if you think
that English people are unfriendly
you’ve been meeting the wrong kind of
English people okay so
balus valise GTL said imagine there are
Spanish valise glz says in terms of
culture what is the best and worst thing
of living in Spain and the UK of live
about living in the same and living in
the UK and what your plans for the
future okay the best thing about Spain
Wow it’s got to be the Spaniards
I love Spanish people they are so
friendly so fun and just they know how
to have a really good time and that’s
basically why I want to live in Spain in
the future the worst thing about living
in Spain was definitely the political
corruption and also the amount of
paperwork that you have to do for
everything just to apply for a simple
license or a National Insurance number
or something like that you have to spend
hours waiting in a queue you have to
fill in a hundred forms and really in
this n age it should just be available
online so that was very frustrating okay
so hi mate G patina so how does a
marketer go from ads and pitching to
teaching ESL when were you aware that
unites teaching as a professional career
ESL is English a second language and
this is because I used to work in
marketing and my degree was in marching
I found out that I like teaching by
mistake I was doing a placement year
that went wrong and I suddenly had no
job I’ve done a little bit of teaching
before when I was living in Madrid I
moved to Seville I did my teaching
qualification at Temple international
Seville which was great and all wants to
do it and definitely do it there because
I mean it was fabulous they offered me a
job there I continued on fell in love
with teaching and obviously because I
did marketing and advertising I wanted
to create my own thing so here I am
doing it
Alessio your own e says hi do you have
natural blonde hair yes I do actually
I’ve never dyed my hair before so
this is my hair I’ve always had blonde
hair actually I was born ginger but then
it changed blonde and it’s always been
more or less the same color so yeah the
bad thing about grabbing blonde hair is
that this happens can you see that
sunburn that was 20 minutes in the Sun
so yes I like my hair color but my my
skin is very sensitive what can you do
okay so Intel or it’s an O Santana no I
said that with a British accent
deliberately because I don’t know how to
say that in Portuguese really wants me
to say something in Portuguese on this
channel so I would say this cool bit of
our portal yes that’s all I know
um yeah obrigado obrigado fraggle or
pacing or I know some Portuguese but I
can’t speak Portuguese okay so azzedine
seven Everdeen seven says I seen your
videos just now and I want to tell you
that the way you explain is awesome
thank you
my question is how many languages do you
speak
the answer is I speak two and a half
times I do speak Spanish fluently after
living there for a couple of years I
obviously speak English and I am
learning Italian stone Veronica Yana and
for anyone else that is learning Italian
I have found the best youtuber she’s
absolutely amazing her channel is called
learn Italian with Lucrezia says child
with you a bit but nothing mio canale I
love her she explains things really
clearly she speaks perfect English and
also perfect Italian but she speaks very
slowly with a really clear accent and I
actually take a bit of inspiration from
her for my videos so if you’re learning
Italian check her out because she is the
best one that I’ve found so far and the
next language that I would like to learn
would be I imagine Portuguese or Chinese
I’m not sure but I want to really learn
Italian well first and then I’ll move on
to the next one I’m not very good at
learning two languages at a time some
people could do that I just start to get
confused okay and Dennis Joe says hello
Lucy my question is what is the biggest
difference between British English and
Americans except pronunciation
okay we’re obviously pronunciation is
huge difference but then it would be the
use of certain words so for example this
the rubbish bin I call it the rubbish
bin or the bin and in America they would
call it a trash can now we understand
each other because of course I watch
American programs and they watch British
programs but it is quite amusing to talk
with an American if you would like to
see a video on the difference between
American and British words and I could
definitely get an American friend to
help me out on that it might be quite
fun
okay so John Deasy from Instagram asks
when are you coming to Valencia again
for those who don’t know Valencia is a
beautiful city in Spain I went there two
years ago
when I was studying in Madrid and well
I’m hoping to move back to Spain
sometime soon so probably next year for
last is less finance is a huge party
over there which was amazing so
definitely for less fires okay
Mohamed yellow or blue yellow blue
yellow blue it’s pretty name I like it
yellow you
yay yellow you okay Mohamed that’s it
and the difference in pronunciation of
true and through okay well the endings
are the same but true is with it and
through is with us so I’m sticking my
tongue out through and then true it’s
all about the tongue in that one okay so
meant for Bilal says what’s the best way
to learn English well this could be a
whole video actually I’ve
quite a lot of questions saying how do I
learn English I’m just thinking that’s a
big question so in my opinion the
absolute best way of learning any
language is immersion you need to go to
that country you need to be dropped into
a situation where you have to speak that
language you need to be with natives and
you need to swallow your pride we’ve
talked about that one before you need to
forget all embarrassment and all shame
and just speak take corrections well
have friends that will correct you and
obviously this isn’t a possibility for
everyone if you don’t have the
opportunity to do this then firstly try
and speak with natives or at least
English speakers secondly all the tip
try and watch English and American TV
shows if you want a recommendation for a
really good British television series
then I would recommend broadchurch it’s
set in a village in the South of England
and it’s really really interesting I
loved it make sure you watch it with
English subtitles though and if you
don’t get it the first time around watch
it again that’s how you’re going to
learn be diligent be persistent every
single word that you don’t recognize you
need to find out what it is the longer
that you ignore that word the longer you
will remain without knowing what it
means seems very simple but I know that
I sometimes will ignore a word in
Italian or Spanish for ages and then
when I finally learn it I think God why
did I go throwing up without knowing
what that word meant okay and guila too
says red or white wine God can you not
tell by my video owner actually red or
white wine oh that’s like asking to
choose between my mom and my dad that’s
difficult okay red I prefer red but it
really stings my teeth I’ll have a sip
in there that we like red teeth um a
death mask says what do you think about
sued America
so South American countries I love South
American countries I love South
Americans I’ve never visited South
America and but I have a lot of American
friends I great people great food I’m
dying to visit they’re my best friends
just been traveling all around Central
and South America and that is number one
probably number one on my list of places
I’d like to go so Janette oh three it
says how difficult is it to get from B
to C one it’s definitely a jump but it’s
definitely doable but you do need to put
in a lot of work and how do you see will
you teach business English great ideas
yeah definitely request if you’d like a
video I’m sure I can do a video on
business English I used to teach
business English in Spain so so yes
expect one of those however just bear in
mind I have a long list of videos I’d
like to do so it might take a couple of
weeks or even a couple of months to be
able to do it but I’ll definitely try a
lot of my videos have been requests from
students like the take one I did the
other day
so keep requesting things that you’d
like to see Chinee out chan cheese yeah
Chang sorry – Yong time hope I said that
right said what smoking it about right
Satoru discussed that and what is your
favorite British singer well when it
comes to music I’m a bit boring
I really like the Beatles and I like
Coldplay oh I actually don’t listen to
so much music so my neighbors however do
listen to a lot of music haha
hey cassia cassia pieps and Zak exedoc
cassia cassia cassia cutter I don’t know
cassia sorry Castiel for planting your
name like that

foreigners or do you give private

lessons okay that’s it for questions now
many of you asked me a lot of English
related questions which are just too
complex to answer in a short video this
video would be an hour long why done is
I have added them onto my to-do list and

can in future videos thank you for all
