Being British with Gabie Kook! – 5 REALLY English Expressions!

you make pancakes I do that’s why she’s
my favorite today I’m talking with Gabby
cook the amazing Gabby cook yeah we’re
here I become a bit serious my attempt
to do British accent you have to be very
serious and emotionless because British
people we don’t have emotions what he
does come across as you guys don’t have
this yes that’s a really good point yeah
so we we we speak kind of neutral and at
the end of the sentence we go down we
finish on down so in a question or you
know how a valley girl accent or the
Australian is that inflection goes up it
goes up British does the opposite
exactly this is the most British way you
so today we’re gonna do five really
really super British expressions that
you can use and you can use in your
daily British life oh this one’s a good
one if you’re angry with your boyfriend
girlfriend or husband how can you
express that you’re in a bad mood with
them I’m pissed you’re pissed is that
your face is that the face you give I’m
annoyed you saw annoying pissed it’s
more strong sigh it’s a good one though
it’s useful
you could also say I’m in a strop you
know those moods that you get in when I
don’t want to talk to you you’re angry
and I don’t want to talk to you it’s
that feeling I’m honest in I’m innocent
I don’t know why it keeps saying on
prepositions are annoying
you could also modify it you’d say I
mean a massive stroke that sounds very
British I mean a massive strop today
because I didn’t have my teeth it’s a
good reason to be in a stroke yeah yeah
you understand my people I can’t be
bothered
oh yeah have you heard this one before
how would you use it whenever Josh asks
me to do something that I don’t want you
to and I’ll say I can’t be bothered
tummy bothered so this just means you
either don’t have energy or you don’t
want to do the thing yeah it can’t be
bothered so other examples could be
Gabby do you want to go for a ten-mile
run right now so a British accent would
you make the T glottal what that means
is you stop the T in your throat so
instead of can’t you can say the con-com
I think I can’t I can’t
then bothered bog so the last syllable
is really lazy of it but thank thanks I
can’t be bothered the next one we would
use when you’re very very tired you’re
exhausted you’ve had a long day working
or cooking pancakes what’s a really
British Way of saying super tired yes is
it right yes
not good oh yeah once when I was in
school um I said to my teacher I’m
really knackered and they gave me
detention because apparently there’s
like a sexual connotation with it it’s
like I had sex so much that’s why I’m
no no one else maybe at older generation
would maybe but no one does today it’s
fine it’s just very British can you say
it in the British accent knackered
knackered knackered but did he notice at
the end you did the American bird
knackered knackered back not try it just
perfect see you got it that’s perfect so
you’ve been cooking pancakes all day how
do you feel there’s also another way
that you could say knackered and that’s
shattered
shut it so you can say with the perfect
the British yeah if you had a cockney
accent you might say shattered with a
glottal tea shattered shattered whoa you
did that perfectly I’ll have a friend
who knows that coffee accent like a
really strong one
yeah boobies don’t work Joel after four
years I understand you hey Joe this one
we use all the time in it’s very
versatile if you want to go out or go
somewhere for a very quick visit we’ll
go somewhere very quickly and then back
how might you say that in a British way
oh I might swing by swing by is a great
one oh is that British no but the really
British Way would be pop – have you
heard of pop say that great so if I say
I’m coming to your house quickly I could
say swing by or Oh on my way home I’m
gonna pop by I’m gonna pop by yeah so
well no Taylor Oh
Oh what is it if you’re leaving your
house quickly you can say I’m gonna pop
out pop out pop out okay if you’re going
to the shops really quickly I’m gonna
pop to the shops after the shop
pop to the loo yes yes you can say that
yeah yep yeah oh it’s just a nicer way
of saying I’m gonna prune oh yeah pop
pop pop out pop out so pop up and pop
down those are kind of weird if I say
I’m gonna pop up pop up the shops pop up
the shops yeah but you could also say
I’m gonna pop down the shops yep and it
means the same thing okay up and down
exactly it’s a with British we don’t
make sense that I’ve been hearing I’ve
never used it you never use pot well
never said oh it’s fun to pop
it’s salute and the last one if you
don’t trust someone or something what
would how would you describe it like
know this I don’t trust it it looks or
it seems dodgy you know G Josh was
walking once in a dodgy alleyway and at
night I series that’s not good so that’s
why I always say avoid the doji always
cool so I hope you learned some really
cool British expressions did you learn
some new stuff today yes what you’re
gonna do today I’m gonna go yeah
yeah nice yeah are you gonna run a
marathon
happy Father’s why can’t you be bothered
I’m not good
and also you seemed so angry today
what’s wrong
ah had some haters this morning so I’m
in a spot dodgy people
can’t be trusted contrast doji people
are we good today has been so much fun
