American VS British English Words

All I greet and welcome back
u English with Lucy. Today I want to say something
10 differences in vocabulary between
American and British English.
Let’s start.
The first of these, and many of you probably know about it.
It is what the British call “football”
and what Americans call “soccer”.
Of course we understand each other.
But it can be misleading because the Americans have
American football, which is a totally different ball game.
Second, the “chips” and “crisps”.
For us, crisps crispy fried potatoes,
which is usually eaten cold – potatoes.
But the Americans call them “chips”. It is still
confused when we get to the third point,
because what Americans call “French fries” for us “chips” – fries.
So for Americans, French fries
and for British chips are “hot soft fried potatoes.”
These.
Začrvrté: what we call the “trousers”
Americans call “pants”. It is, however,
more confused, because when we get to the fifth point,
So what Americans call “underwear”
we call “pants”. So the “pants” are for Americans
our “trousers”, what you wear on top of our “underwear”.
Sixth, “gas” versus “petrol”.
“Petrol” for us is a liquid fuel that we
to cars, and the Americans call it “gas”.
Yes, it’s a mess because of “gas” for us means only
that is in gaseous form,
something that is not solid or liquid – gas.
Furthermore, it is a “biscuit” or “cookie”.
For the British – we are one of them called a “biscuit”
Americans call it a “cookie”.
Eighth: “trunk” versus “boot”.
For us, the rear part of the car
called “a boot”, which is also a word that can
indicate a certain type of shoe, but
for Americans it is simply a “trunk”.
Ninth: what we call “jumper” Americans
called “sweater”. So remember
two words, because for me this is a “jumper”
but for Americans it would be a “sweater”.
Tenth: “high school” versus
“Secondary school”. In Britain call
closing a school in which we go (with graduation).
But in America, they call it “high school”.
So that’s it for today.
I hope you learned something new.
