why do we eat roast potatoes at
Christmas or at all I suppose Tallyho
foodtube my name is Mack shadbolt and I
am Jamie’s resident historian it’s
simple they’re beautiful and when done
properly they should be crispy on the
outside and fluffier than a hamster
that’s been through the tumble dryer on
the inside mmm one little blighters but
why do we have them it’s because of a
chap called Sir Walter Raleigh he wore a
silly rough that looks rather similar
like there’s actually look nothing like
this and a hatch that was completely
dissimilar to this so sir walter his
sole job in the world was to basically
annoy the spanish but also to go out
there and find places for England we
like to find places back then and who
was he finding it for he was finding it
for this lovely lady good Queen Bess
Elizabeth the first you and I Sir Walter
Rostov going to find these things Dero
wale we do love him discovered the
potato again he didn’t actually discover
it well he found it for Britain but the
Spanish at tommy found them before us
hence batatis and all that sort of stuff
and also the fact that potatoes have
been cultivated in South America since
about 8000 BC so why did the potato
become so popular well because it was
cheap as chips thank you and easy to
store easy to grow and all that stuff
and rich and poor people loved it it all
comes down to Sir Walter and whilst he
may not have actually discovered them
first or been the first person to have
them it was still Sir Walter who gave it
to a good Queen Bess sadly he had his
head cut off for various reasons so this
is for you sir walter wally spud finder
bless you and thank you for the potato
if you want to know how to actually cook
potatoes then click on the potato so
waters potato and I’m sure someone on
the food tube stratosphere will be able
to show you how to do it thank you so
much if you enjoyed the video comment
down below here and share it on your
social media and all that sort of stuff
thumbs up for fun and all that sort of
malarkey and hope see you all soon Lulu
