why do we eat Christmas pudding I’m
actually asking my name is Mac Shadbolt
and I am Jamie’s resident historian so
I’m genuinely asking why do we eat
Christmas pudding according to Charles
Dickens Carol that was the pudding mrs.
Cratchit entered flushed but smiling
proudly and blitz with Christmas Holly
stuck upon the top me want to learn old
rubbish none of us actually liked
Christmas pudding but yet we still have
it so why well it goes back to our
medieval chum Ray’s thank you so much
for everything they in had this horrible
thing called Christmas pottage and
basically this pottage was this grim
sort of porridge thing but it gets worse
it had meat and and and basically
anything you could think that was
disgusting it was in the damned thing
they had 13 ingredients to represent
Jesus and the 12 apostles and then they
were sort of stirred up into this huge
mixture and we had this thing called
stir up Sunday where every member of the
household comes along and stirs it you
stay east to west to represent the
journey of the wise men so when did
actually become a Christmas pudding that
the occasional lunatic quite likes well
we’re talking about the 1700s when dear
old King George the first came over from
Germany hello Germany brought with him
his love of puddings so he came and he
asked for this disgusting pottage to be
dried out sort of steamed made a bit
more interesting in whatever and
decorated with Holly the only good thing
that we do when it comes to Christmas
pudding is setting the damn thing on
fire whoa look at that realism is on
fire if you wouldn’t mind little doing
called comments down here and letting me
know why you like Christmas pudding or
whether you are right and you agree with
me that it’s disgusting and wrong and
should be outlawed
dunno old but I’ve all right okay if you
like it like it subscribe to foodtube
there’s one for the lovely and click up
here I believe it’s up here for a video
to show you how to make Christmas
pudding if you are farming enough to
once make it right on road Macduff
