hello everyone it’s me cupcake Gemma and
I’m here at the food Tube kitchen and
I’m joined by a total mega babe it
leaves from my cupcake addiction why
thank you hi there my name is Elise and
welcome to my cupcake addiction so we’re
gonna show you how to make something
really cool for Thanksgiving we’re gonna
show you how to make turkey cupcakes
which I realize it sounds kind of gross
but don’t worry it’s not turkey flavor
cupcakes
it is cupcakes that look like Turkey
let’s get started just got some regular
vanilla cupcakes a which I’ve baked in
brown cases at least we’re gonna cover
those with brown sugar paste I’m using
chocolate sugar paste so if you can just
roll that out to about half a centimeter
thick for me that would be great I’m
just using a little bit of corn flour
down on the surface to stop my sugar
piece from sticking to the bench and
rolling it out with a fondant rolling
pin okie dokie meanwhile I’ve got my
chocolate buttercream I’m just gonna get
a small amount just enough so that this
sugar paste is gonna stick so at least
would you like to chomp out a circle
using that circle cutter flame your
circle needs to be a little bit bigger
than the top of your cupcake when you
look over because obviously you’ve got a
dome there so it needs to kind of drape
on the sides lay it on top in the middle
just gently dab it in place now we need
to make his little head how much of my
chocolate would you like a little nugget
and just giving that a little squish so
it’s all nice and pliable while you’re
doing that shall I roll a little bit of
the ground sugar paste for the tail
ideally you would make these a little
bit in advance so they have time to dry
out because this fondant is a little bit
on the soft side so we’re going to need
these chocolate dipped biscuit sticks so
I reckon about half and then with your
ball of fondant roll it up into a little
sausage you want it to be about inch and
a half two inches long so once you have
a little fat sausage here
poke it right into the bottom this is
going to form the head and neck of your
ridiculous turkey and then Elise can you
make me a beak kind of shape absolutely
out of this yellow sugar pie so again
just normal sugar paste and I’ve use egg
yellow and this just to make it go this
lovely yellow color so I’m going to use
like a pea
as DS I would say a large P or a Petit
Pois okay that’s perfect so we’re going
to need to create a kind of bond and one
of the things you can use is water so
using a paintbrush put his little nose
where you think it would be amusing and
then at least could you just pop on his
beak it’s a very Midler so that’ll stick
together quite nicely even though it’s
just water that you used turkeys have
this kind of weird like whatl thing so
to make that cool I’m going to just take
a little piece eyes faces red fondant
and I’m gonna make another little big
shape
yeah and then again underneath where you
put the beak just a little bit more
water oh it’s perfect right well he’s
not going anywhere because he’s got no
eyes yet so we need to give him some I
just use white sugar paste for these and
just little balls which I flattened down
and then for the pupils I used an edible
pen which you can get and cake
decorating shops or online are really
easy to find again with the water just
dab little blobs and then Elise would
you do the honors I love his eyes they
make him look really cartoony he Malad
he’s alone so we’re gonna need to pop
him in his body because these biscuits a
really really fragile I’m just gonna use
my trusty paintbrush to poke hole in
first so it after like really squish it
and so in he goes so for the tail it’s
really simple so at least obviously she
just rolled some of this lovely sugar
paste out earlier and we’re just going
to use these fluted cutters to chomp out
a circle so when I chomp it I’m just
gonna slide it back and forward to make
sure we get a really nice cut and it
doesn’t stick to the bench if you can
just use a smaller one to make a little
indentation so push it in but not all
the way well do we need his feather
shape so if you can use the same knife
to just make some little indentations
that make it look a little bit like a
fan feather
I would love to literally just impress
those lines on there so once you’ve done
your all your markings in the tail there
and we need to give it a bit of a
distinctive pattern we’re gonna use a
bit of luster dust
you don’t need loads of it and then this
stuff mixes up really well with vodka
you can use water if you want but vodkas
particularly good because it’s a alcohol
so just evaporates it dries really
quickly so I’m just gonna pop a couple
of drops of vodka straight
into the luster dust and stir it around
just to make a little bit at a time
don’t make the whole lot because it will
evaporate as gem said and you don’t want
to waste it so while Elise is doing that
I’m gonna make some red paint I’ve got
some red food coloring paste here which
is really really strong again with the
same luster dust and the same vodka I’m
just gonna add a bit of red to that I’ll
just paint a stripe just underneath
where at least kindly did my silver
stripe just adds a little bit more
detail the devil is in the details as
they say it is a little bit and you know
what if you don’t have these luster dust
it still looks very much like a turkey
this just kind of makes it a little more
colorful all right so that’s just gonna
take a little while to dry just an hour
or two just to harden up a little bit
but here’s one we made earlier because
we’re very very organized and we’re
gonna just cut a little bit off so it’s
more of an kind of v-shape I guess the
longer you can leave them to dry out the
better they’ll be so you can leave it a
couple of hours but if you’ve got time
you can make these like 12 24 36 hours
in advance the firmer they are the
easier they’ll be to work with right
yeah we’ve got our lovely turkey tail
here all raring to go we’re gonna need
to make a little incision using our
trusty knife round the back about an
inch away from the sides I’d say and
then with the point first whack that guy
in now it still is a little bit on the
wibbly-wobbly side so here’s where these
biscuits come in handy snap it into and
you can stick it around the back so that
we can use them as kind of supports make
sure they’re shorter than the tail so
there he is look at that little weirdo
he’s bonkers and he’s really really easy
and he tastes good too he did some
amazing gobble gobble yeah ah yeah
secret biscuit inside as well which is
I’m going in there headfirst little
