Tasty Cajun Rice & Turkey Burrito | Jamie Oliver & Uncle Ben’s

let’s do this dish now I wanted to do a
little dish just sort of really big up
leftovers of Turkey of course you can
use chicken or actually you can use any
meat in this dish as well I’m going to
be doing a little quick dish like
occasion style burrito people love
burritos at the moment so this is just a
little expression of how to do it and
we’re going to cook it all along so all
you guys have got stuff at home
get ready get your stuff ready to go
carry on you’re going to come out and
give us a hand now Carrie Anne
Carrie Ann’s been doing some great
videos on foodtube you’ve been having a
really good time but you don’t I have
I’ve been over the time milazzo
so you’ve been concentrating on family
classics yes you’ve had great response
from foodtube they seem to like it yes
we’re going down well so we’re cooking
this together so if you can chop up for
this dish guys we’re gonna use two
cloves of garlic roughly one chili a
couple of sticks of celery and a few
bits of spring onions this is kind of
like the Holy Trinity along with the
pepper for the pepper just put your
thumb in there pop it out pull out the
seeds and then just tear that open like
this and we’re going to slice it up now
Carrie Anne if you can just slice into
one centimeter dice roughly the celery
the onions finely sliced the chili and
the garlic and the peppers while I start
cooking now guys you can chop away we’re
going to be cooking together with many
many people in the papers in the UK
they’ve had recipes and newspapers we’ve
had stuff on the packets Uncle Ben’s
here have had my ugly mug on the packet
here and the point of doing this is a
brown right a whole grain brown rice
this has already cooked okay and when
you’re doing a sort of stir-fried rice
dish it’s always important to have the
rice cold okay
or even like any Asian rice dish okay so
we’ve got cold rice cooked over their
carry-ons doing a nice job of chopping
stuff up there so in this pan we’re
going to add I’m sort of taking
inspiration from sort of Asian flavors
just a few occasion flavors so they call
the Holy Trinity the peppers The Onion’s
the celery so in a pan we’re going to
add just a little olive oil
and we’re going to go in with those
peppers and we just want to just get
some softness happening right there will
be tossing that up and the celery as
well we’re just going to strip down the
middle and cut into centimeter dice so
celery I think often is sort of under
loved in this country but it does it’s
the basis of so many dishes around the
world and people absolutely love it
so often in Britain we just put it with
a cheese board and that’s a little bit
boring but the celery can go in there
straight in there
oh yes yes you’re right me and carry on
as you can see we eat a lot of celery
because it is it is calorie negative oh
yes okay so if you can just speed up
there sweet pea I’ll take the onions so
you can see you can hear it all
happening here we just want to soften
that up now Carrie Ann’s going in with
the garlic really important I think for
getting that flavor happening and chilli
we like a little bit of heat so I kind
of look at this dish this is
particularly good just making it for two
people but you can do this before of
course I’m just going to slice it up got
spring onions here just about for one
per person of course you can just get
your rice and boil it cook it according
to the packet instructions then just put
it in a sieve and put cold water over it
and just let it sit for a while or you
know the handy thing about buying these
packets is it’s already cooked of course
it’s wholemeal so it’s got nice sort of
health-giving properties as well and the
great thing is it’s already cold okay so
I’m going to liven this rice up with
these beautiful vegetables here they
call this the Holy Trinity so if you
wanted to if you wanted to you could
just pet that up with a little smoked
paprika that’s very very beautiful we
have a little bit of chilli sauce but
I’m going to give that later
cariann is just going to hack up some
coriander leaves now coriander or
cilantro as they call it in many other
countries we’re going to pick the leaves
like that we’ll save that for later and
then we’ve got the stalks don’t throw
that away we want to slice it up so
carry-ons just slide
from waking do a little bit more that
would be beautiful so here we go
everyone at home if you’re cooking along
then bless you hopefully we’re not going
too fast for you we’ve got that veg in
the pan doing beautiful things which is
lovely people pictures if they’re making
this I would reckon that can I could
send them in carry on she always does
great things
hashtag food Tube tagged in a picture of
you cooking our beautiful dish here that
will be fantastic
Carrie Anne have you made this dish
before is this the first time for you
it’s the first time for me I’m really
excited because it’s all my favorite
things
what people are loving burritos at the
moment so look come in coming in now
we’ve sort of sort of softened off this
veg we do want to season it with a
little sea salt a little pepper and also
we’re going to go in with the rice now
as the rice comes out we’re going to
just kind of squeeze it and separate it
and at the moment this kind of rice it’s
sort of it’s almost like dormant it’s
waiting for something so what I want to
do is give it something beautiful so
again we’re going to go back to this
little grater like this and the lemon
zest is going to give you wonderful
fragrance and flavor and then I’m just
going to chop this bad boy in half and
the minute that this juice hits the pan
it will start to caramelize and it’s
going to rehydrate and stop and up that
rice absolutely beautifully although I
have just I have just chopped the most
unjú sea lemon this is the most okay
good of another lake yeah I’ll go go for
it roll it roll it roll it and it pops
all the little capsules inside and then
you suppose to get a bit more juice and
you would normally so let’s see Arianne
is right these are rubbish lemons what
country did they come from
this blimmin Italians again Gennaro
they’re your people
not but I must be for duty we need more
lemons okay so we got the lemons going
in just the juice of one lemon okay for
some reason these were very unjú see I
don’t
but look we’re just going to toss it now
and that toss in action is really
important we’re dressing that beautiful
rice in those lovely crunchy but
softened vegetables look at that
absolutely gorgeous so we’ve done that
bit that’s looking good guys that’s
looking good over here on a low
temperature let’s turn that down I want
to get some leftover turkey remember
this is all about leftover turkey so a
little handful a couple of hundred grams
this is your leftover turkey from
Thanksgiving or Christmas that goes in
and I’m going to add just two
tablespoons of barbecue sauce now the
point of this dish guys twos fine carry
on to fine
well you can add it later see how it
goes the point of this dish is that it’s
supposed to be easy a nice little snack
a nice little lunch something you know
that you love coming a bit naughty so
actually there’s actually there’s a lot
of veg in this dish so we’re good
turkeys a nice lean meat but by dressing
in the barbecue sauce it does get a
wonderful smoky and it starts to
caramelize as well
which is really really good so Kerry Ann
is picking through that we’re going to
keep stirring this so we’ve got the rice
guys okay nice and simple rice is done
turn the heat off what I’m going to do
now actually put my heat back on again
and as this beautiful turkey you want
you want it to sort of in the barbecue
sauce you’ve of course got all those
mixes of flavor
you know honey apple juice you know the
smokiness the kind of ketchup
it is sort of undeniable berry Anne was
probably a little bit right you know
maybe there is another level it’s a
little bit extra sauce going in there
you want to make it sticky and gorgeous
so as that happens guys if you can just
clear a little bit of space there my
sweet and we’re going to finish our
little plate up so we got the rice done
we want a nice little platter to put it
on guys
the tortillas here go for the large just
to make life easy just want to heat it
up so I’m literally just going to turn
down this gas and just either pop it in
the oven for a second a second you don’t
want to you don’t want to
I literally just want to heat it through
so it becomes nice and bendy okay so on
it goes like that
very very nice as soon as it gets bendy
happy days
it sort of woken up that bread we’re
going to go in with our lovely flavored
rice and you get your opportunity to
correct the seasoning if it needs it
just like that you can see there’s lots
of lovely chunky veg in there kids love
this dish you’re at in your kids would
like this one
I reckon they were destroying the
survival I like that word destroy we’re
going to go in with the crispy
caramelized Turkey a little bit of
coriander over the top sweetheart and
then let me just wash my hand what I
wanted to do is just a tiny bit of feta
cheese and just just grab a little
literally that’s that much from a height
sprinkle over so if you get a nice close
up of that now we’ve got veg
we’ve got wholemeal rice we’ve got to
the turkey with attitude remember guys
you can do this with any poultry so
we’re actually any leftover meat is
really really good and then what I want
to do is just roll this up so I’m just
going to take it up like that pull it
back just like me granddad used to make
his little cigarettes not those kind of
cigarettes and roll it up and there is
our first beautiful little naughty
burrito you can go bigger if you want
but I think you want to get it in your
gob so I’m just going to put this here
I’m going to make one more I haven’t
quite finished it if we just going to
put that there
I want to do a little bit of refreshment
for this okay so what we’re going to do
is a little bit of yogurt and some nice
organic yogurt straight over here have a
look at this guys just a nice heat
desert spoon and then this chilli sauce
try and get this chilli sauce it’s
absolutely brilliant and I’m just going
to put that it’s like Heaven and Hell
chili sauce and yogurt like heat fire
and a fire extinguisher and there we go
we’re going to put that beautiful
burritos just like that
I’ll do one more finish it with some
coriander so guys there you go the
football the second dish is done
wonderful beautiful burritos Cajun style
with a little bit of help from Uncle
Ben’s thank you very much
