Merry Christmas food tubers I’m Barry
for myvirginkitchen I’m wearing a really
dodgy father Christmas outfit I do
apologize today I’m showing you how to
make some honey roast vegetables in one
tray and some bubble and squeak
leftovers good times now this is a
ridiculously easy recipe you can mix and
match it and put your own twist on it
these are the vegetables I used to hit
pause on the video now I’m writing all
down but basically we’ve got some sliced
up potatoes we’ve got some carrots we’ve
got some parsnips we’ve got some sprouts
which do give me wind to be fair and
also some nicely quartered up red onion
so the first thing what you do is
pre-heat your oven to gas mark 6 or
equivalent which I’ll put down below are
actually google it but there’s a few
looking than there pour all your
vegetables into a deep roasting trade
and scatter on your herbs now out for
time and very bit you can really go to
town and add any herbs you want like if
you’ve got a tree like right here put it
in there chuck it in whatever you want
to do really give it a good seasoning of
salt and pepper before glossing it
completely in olive oil mixing it up
thoroughly with that done you whack it
in the oven on the top shelf for half an
hour by which time if you’re wearing a
father Christmas outfit like I was you
might realize you ripped your trousers
oh yeah can you see that that isn’t too
good oh ho ho let’s not worry about that
ok that was a little bit awkward I do
apologize but anyhow what we do is get
the sprouts out at the half an hour
stage because they’ll cook a lot quicker
you can actually leave them for the
first half an hour if you want and then
shut them in at this stage but I just
put them on a little plate to one side
and carry on roasting for another 25
minutes okay so once we’ve hit 55
minutes take that tray out of the oven
add the sprouts back is they all happy
and rejoin with their vegetable family
again and then give it a nice coating in
honey before slamming it back in the
oven for another 5 maybe 10 minutes if
you’re feeling generous and that will be
all done and once these vegetables have
had that honey roasting time pull into a
lovely looking dish and they’re ready to
be in a straightaway hot or cold there’s
a natural sweetness running through it
is so good and you’ve topped up with
that honey loving now for your leftovers
if you
have any left on the day after Christmas
its Boxing Day right you might call it
Boxing Day
some people don’t do that that’s fine
it’s just an excuse to be lazy again
basically so you can do bubble and
squeak why can he left over vegetables
into a big mixing bowl and mash away
I’ve got my daughter Chloe’s through
this step mash mash mash yeah good girl
a my other daughter Phoebe was getting
messy and making patties out of it
what’d you do me
you are amazing over a medium flame grab
a frying pan drop in some olive oil and
cook the patties either side for around
about four or five minutes until they’re
golden brown now if you’re feeling flash
you can go that extra mile and add a
poached egg on top a little bit of olive
oil some black pepper and a finish of
freshly chopped parsley oh my goodness
the kids like them too is it nice leaves
yes I like the taste of it and I like
the flavor oh wow thank you for your
thorough description and thank you for
