Merry Christmas food tubers I love
Christmas family food treats are more
than anything presents I’m gonna show
you how you can make your own edible
gifts so I’ve got two ideas from Janie’s
magazine one is dulce de leche think of
it as a caramel version of Nutella I
love it on Italian crackers which has
got a bit of salt on them so good and
then we’ve got a boozy pomegranate
spiced gin which goes down a treat in my
family so doll to the letter
all you need is a 200 grams of butter
going into a hot pan 200 grams of brown
sugar like brown sugar 3 nice big
tablespoons of golden syrup all about
hundred grams
look how gooey this is nice naughty
treats so while that’s just melting away
in there I’m just gonna get my vanilla
pod
these little feeds are gonna give the
dish a lovely creamy vanilla flavor
lovely and intense to make sure the
sugars all been dissolved give it a good
stir final thing you need just to make
it even more indulgent is 400
milliliters of double cream and it just
spreads this creamy texture all through
it look at that so it’s not for the
faint-hearted yes it’s a naughty treat
but what better time than Christmas to
enjoy this dish save the diet for
January there you go if you now got this
like lovely golden color just turn up
the heat a bit and bring it to the boil
look at that that is what you’re looking
for it’s like gold and melt impostors
bubbles you can see there it’s really
thickened up so my tip just to check
whether it’s ready is just to put a
little bit on the plate put this in the
fridge for a few minutes
so you can see it’s firm but it’s got
that spreadable quality so you can go
lovely on lashings of it on toast or
crumpets or whatever you want I’m just
gonna pour it into my jar
it’s a lid on now I’m just gonna make it
into my gift and this is going to be for
my nan or which is my granddad’s
because he was always the one that would
give me my sister’s there was naughty
sweet treats simple lovely gift from my
nan nor that for him now I’m gonna do
something for my sisters spiced
pomegranate gin look at it it looks
amazing you know you can drink it in
lots of different ways
Romina my sister she’s the boozy one she
loves to drink this and eat any her
preference is to have it with bitter
tonic so it’s twist on the classic gin
and tonic but for me it’s extra special
and I like to have it with a bit of
Prosecco really simple to make 200 mils
of pomegranate juice into the pan and
then we want to dissolve about 350 grams
of caster sugar that’s your base now
we’re gonna add all our spices so you
want about four sticks of cinnamon four
star anis and about 12 peppercorns
already feel that warmth and that
Christmas feeling coming into this drink
cinnamon comes hand-in-hand with oranges
so we want peel and juice of one lemon
team cut it into little bits you can see
them running through the drink Louise
the rest of this juice bring it to the
boil and once it’s brought to the boil
just turn it off and leave it and cooled
completely and this is gonna be the
flavor bomb
gonna add to the gym sugars dissolved
and it’s cooled right down so you need
the seed from three pomegranate give it
a good old bath and watch your fingers
see
[Music]
look how pretty it looks so delicious
already but now it’s time for the gym
find some odd sheep jars whatever you
want to present it in I’ve got a big
milk bottle here for a jar you can use
small milk bottles and I’m just gonna
split this gin in half so I’m using a
liter of gin here you might think that
is a lot of gin but this goes such a
long way what I’m going to do is just
pick out the big a bit to make it a bit
easier to pour we’re quite competitive
in our house if I gave one sister three
cinnamon sticks and the other one only
one there’d be the base about it
there we go into the jug from watch the
colors and mixing in beautifully give
them a little stir having a little party
in there already but what you want to do
is just seal these and leave them in a
cool dark place and so the flavors just
gonna intensify they’ll be perfect for
Christmas day so there you go two great
edible gift ideas and if you want the
