somewhere along the line our
relationship with food broke down and
it’s come to a point where our lack of
knowledge in cooking and food means more
than just burnt toast did you know that
for the first time in history being
overweight is killing more people than
being underweight and that every year
2.8 million people worldwide die from
diet-related disease we’re eating too
much of the wrong stuff but help is at
hand
my foundation likes to help communities
rebuild their broken relationship with
food and we want to do this in three
different ways
each arm of my charity is designed to
tackle our lack of food knowledge using
hands-on education because by learning
to cook and understanding where food
comes from we can all unlock the secrets
to a happier healthier life for our
children and their grandchildren
did you know that kids are still eating
junk food in school and that they can
leave school with little or no knowledge
about food world education is failing
our kids
that’s why we set up the kitchen garden
project which teaches primary school
kids the joys of sewing and growing
their own fruit and vegetables they also
learn the essential cooking skills that
will last them a lifetime so that they
can eat their way towards a happier
healthier life did you know that a young
offender costs a taxpayer at least
60,000 pounds a year but it only costs
30 grand a year to train a 15 apprentice
and that for every pound invested in
fifteen nine pound 50 of social value is
generated my 15 apprentice program takes
unemployed young people with little or
no qualification and gives them hands-on
professional kitchen training building
happiness hope and job prospects 15
provides a bridge between a life with
few prospects and a future in which
anything is possible
did you know that worldwide the number
of obese adults is set to rise by 73
percent over the next two decades and
that being overweight causes 1/4 of all
heart disease globally
our Ministry of food projects wants to
change that by placing kitchens in the
heart of the community
our aim is simply to keep cooking skills
alive by teaching people of all ages
basic cooking classes and giving them
basic nutritional advice we can help
them help themselves to a healthier
future
here at my foundation we’ve been lucky
enough to set up kitchens across the UK
in Holland and both in Australia and the
US of A but we’d love to do more and
with your support the possibilities are
just endless
together we can create a world where
because we eat better we live longer and
we know how to teach our families how to
live a healthier life but to do this we
need your help individuals schools
businesses governments together we can
start a revolution however big or small
your contribution counts so get involved
