You Have the Power-The Superpower | Judah Garrett | TEDxAmanaAcademy

question who in this room thinks there

are superhero okay now for those that

raise their head take them into the

about why you are a superhero what did

you do how did you do it

and most importantly why did you do it

hi my name is Judah Garrett and today I

will be talking about how we are all

superheroes

at first when I say the term superheroes

some people may be thinking about that

I’m talking about the superheroes we see

on TV like Superman Batman

Nightwing or the flash but no not really

the things that make up a superhero that

I’m talking about are the

characteristics that they have you may

now be asking what are some of the

characteristics to see if I was

superhero well two of those

characteristics are being selfless and

being brave my Nana was a superhero to

be because she was brave by fighting

back to cancer and selfless bishop

because she would donate money to say

Jude it reads to the children at the

children’s treatment center without

asking for any reward the things that

you could do to be a superhero or

limitless such as tutoring delivering

food to the hungry joining a hurricane

relief effort to you I started her own

hurricane relief team when I found out

that my dad had cancer I was so

surprised because I never thought of my

favorite leader having any type of

illness that she would have to fight she

showed me that a leader puts themselves

before others which brings us to our

next two traits being a leader and

caring as my daddy would say being a

brother’s keeper a leader is someone

whose actions lead by example they

inspire others to contribute towards a

common goal my Nana inspired and

encouraged me to do st. Baldrick’s here

at Herrmann a cat

and I was a top fundraiser for two years

in a row hopefully to go for three this

year my Nana was a consistent

inspiration in my life

which brings us to our next two traits

consistency and unity consistency

because if you do something consistently

eventually you’ll get better at it at

unity because we reunite with others

with a common goal we could take our

superpower to the next level just so

that you don’t think that I pull this

entire thing out of a magic hat here’s a

quote that my daddy used to say to me

when you have a stroke in life like a

disease don’t think of it as a downside

to life think of it as another way to be

a superhero now before we leave I want

you to leave with one question about

what type of superhero will I be and

just remember that superheroes don’t

need capes

thank you mom can you come to the stage

thank you for supporting a encourage

from me [Applause]
