this is for your own good
welcome to watchmojo.com and today we’re
counting down our picks for the top ten
mercy kills in movies
for this list we’re not saying that
killing someone is ever a good thing so
please don’t take this video the wrong
way but there are times when fictional
people have to kill off other fictional
people for their own good and because
several of these kills happen near the
end of the films in question we are
issuing a general spoiler alert now
I’d expect anyone in this unit to do the
same for me
number 10 lieutenant Jean rat Jack
starship troopers
lieutenant Jean rat jack is the renowned
and respected commander of the roughneck
squadron and he has one rule everyone
fights no one quits he loves all the
soldiers that are under his wing and
expects them to fight with all their
hearts in every battle area this is
tested in one of the squadrons biggest
fights when they’re ambushed by a group
of arachnids
when a tanker bug emerges from the
underground it rips rat jacks legs off
and leaves him to beg his subordinate
and former student Rico to make good on
his duties as a soldier and finish him
off it’s a tough job but somebody’s got
to do it
number nine Johnny Scirocco Gangs of New
York Johnny I gotta kill you
anyone who’s grown up in a rough
neighborhood will tell you to never get
involved with a gang but in Johnny
siroccos case it’s too late for that
no thanks I give it to myself Oh what do
you want that Cape the morning for your
teeth boil Johnny introduces his good
friend amsterdam to william cutting the
man who killed
Amsterdam’s father years before you
whatever your name is what is your name
after finding out who Amsterdam really
is thus making him his nemesis cutting
sends a henchman to kill Amsterdam but
the latter gets the upper hand
so naturally cutting gets a hold of
Johnny and leaves him for dead in
retaliation
after being run through with an iron
pike and hung in the square
Amsterdam sees his dying friend hurts to
vote as he loses more breath after every
second we can’t blame Amsterdam for
feeling forced to put Scirocco out of
his misery
number eight Cristo the beach
what are you doing this for huh show me
in this mm flick Leonardo DiCaprio plays
a college student named Richard who
desperately wants to visit an exotic
island yeah yeah I guess I mean the
beach when he gets to set island in the
Gulf of Thailand things continually go
from bad to worse such as when one of
his Swedish companions Christo gets his
legs bitten off by a shark Christo
decides to stay sheltered inside a tent
and the rest of what little life he has
slowly ticks away as his condition and
things around him get worse Christo had
suffered because we wouldn’t let
anything spoil our fun the scariest
thing about this mercy kill is how
Richard is tearfully looking directly
into christos eyes while he suffocates
him and unfortunately Christo can only
stare right back in the perfect Beach
Resort nothing is allowed to interrupt
the pursuit of pleasure
not even dying number seven Sam Samantha
I am Legend the loving and loyal German
Shepherd known as Sam would have
definitely been any man’s best friend
throughout this post-apocalyptic film
Robert Neville still manages to take
good care of Sam despite there being no
dog groomers dog shampoos or other human
beings left in the area in return Sam
helps her owner to feel comfortable and
less lonely in the isolated city as they
fight against any dark seekers the once
human killers that have since been
mutated by a virus
unfortunately one fight against a pack
of infected dogs see Sam get bitten and
put in critical condition
Robert unsuccessfully attempts to cure
her but ends up having to put his best
pal to rest permanently and we’re as
heartbroken as he is promise my friend I
will say hello to you today
number six rebel Pan’s Labyrinth it will
stop they never left had a gothic photo
Tinsel’s ventajas captain Vidale is one
person that you definitely do not want
any affiliation with especially if you
are a Republican rebel since those are
the people he uses as his torture
victims
well that face but I want to giggle him
Moses look at that time alone his
personal doctor dr. Ferrero comes across
one rebel in particular that Fidel has
captured and beaten to a pulp nasty
disobeying Vidal’s orders Ferrero
euthanizes the prisoner after he begged
the doctor to kill him okay
this causes Vidale to demand why his
doctor would deliberately go against
something he said pero lo único que
podía sir no Vieira pedido V da cermet
Vieira pedido pero no Louis
ferrero shows extravagant bravery and
pride when he tells vidal he prefers an
ethical lifestyle and that he will not
obey anyone simply because they asked
him to unfortunately the action and his
words also spell the end for this
professional looking just to let me have
it
see they can be done number five Billy
Drayton Dan Miller
Amanda Dumfries and Irene rep ler the
mist we gave it a good shot nobody can
say we didn’t nope
one of the highlights if you can call it
that of the mist is actually it’s
depressing ending some called it
fantastic while others were actually
upset about the result whatever your
thoughts it’s still unforgettable I’d
rather die out there trying them in here
right after being continually threatened
by monsters and numerous catastrophes
happening in the area around them a
group of survivors made up of David
Billy Dan Amanda and Irene decide
there’s no point to continue on
despite their attempt to escape their
situation there’s no hope for survival
so they should just succumb to death on
their own terms
the camera is outside the van as David
shoots everyone and that only adds to
the suspense of the multiple mercy kills
as does the flash and the sound of each
gunshot
number four Seth Brundle
brundlefly the fly what does the disease
want what’s – turned me into something
else we all know that once you start
dating someone
he or she may begin to change some
changes are small and sometimes they
include him or her transforming into a
fly mated us being the flock
we hadn’t even been properly introduced
Seth Brundle was the beautiful
journalist Veronica quafe and the two
hit it off
but then a teleportation experiment gone
awry leaves Seth with the
characteristics and attributes of a fly
creating the brundlefly know something
that never existed afar I’m becoming
brundlefly later when Veronica learns
she’s pregnant
Seth attempts to fuse himself with her
so they can become the ultimate family
will be the ultimate family a family of
three joined together in one body
Veronica escapes but in the process
brundlefly becomes increasingly deformed
and gross which forces Veronica to
sorrowfully and her lover’s life
and
number three Old Yeller Old Yeller you
know we’ve got to do it I know mama he
was my dog
out of it one of the most well known
dogs in cinema Old Yeller protected his
owners when danger arrived
and when you showed him affection he
would show you some right back why not
gate nobody get into I heard young
Travis Coates is warned to take good
care of the Labrador Retriever Mastiff
mix as there’s a spread of rabies around
some animals in the town Old Yeller
remains healthy until one dreadful night
when he’s bitten by a rabid wolf the
plague ultimately makes him increasingly
hostile towards his own family and
leaves Travis no choice but to put his
furry companion out of his misery
simultaneously bringing tears to
audiences eyes this doggone dog in
nowhere number 2 Randall McMurphy One
Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest thank God
that you have I wouldn’t need you that’s
great Randall McMurphy ends up in a
mental institution and wins the respect
of all the other patients thanks to his
surprisingly outgoing personality the
mental defective League information how
are you Nurse Ratched I’m happy to be
back however the main person McMurphy
butts heads with is nurse Mildred
ratchet who seems to rule over everyone
with an iron fist
you want to say something to the group
mr. McMurphy after McMurphy strangles
ratchet he’s punished in an extreme way
he’s lobotomized we learned this through
the shocked expression of his friend
chief Bromden who discovers the scars on
McMurphy skull and his near motionless
body as he’s already dead in a matter of
ways chief opts to put McMurphy to rest
indefinitely and we can’t help but feel
for both of them
before we unveil our number one pick
here are some honorable mentions
number one Margaret Maggie Fitzgerald
Million Dollar Baby
I want to disconnect your air machine
and you gotta sleep it’s always a
pleasure to have someone trustworthy and
reliable in your life Maggie Fitzgerald
heavily relies on her trainer Frankie
done to help her become the best boxer
she can be and as such their partnership
earns Maggie a great and positive
reputation however following a string of
victories an illegal sucker punch in the
ring leaves Maggie with a massive injury
when was I hit I can’t hit those people
Jan are Maggie makes a tearful and
hopeless request to which Frankie
eventually gives in and injects Maggie
with so much adrenaline that it sends
her to the heavens
he gave her a single shot it was enough
adrenaline to do the job a few times
over he didn’t want to come through this
again this scene shows that a person
will do anything for the people he or
she is close to even if that means he or
she will never get to be with them again
then he walked out I don’t think he had
anything left
do you agree with our list which big
screen mercy kill do you think was the
