I apologize for not being able to be with you today because of the problem with my visa,
But given the theme of the event,
I think I should not allow any restriction to push me back.
Here I am; spiritually.
I was looking through the lenses of the camera:
Two eyes staring at me,
Full of evil, intelligence and design.
I asked, “What do you want to become when you grow up?”
Ready for the pleasant surprise but again.
Children all over Pakistan are dreaming of big dreams, bold dreams
Doctors, lawyers, become the fastest pilots in the world …
The child with narrow eyes, with a slight hesitation in his voice,
Look at it, said, “World.”
“World,” I said “Why a scientist?” “To blow up the enemies.”
I am from a small village of Pakistan,
It is a village that does not exist in the world on any map.
A village called Acry,
Where there is no water to add and drinkable, there are no good bathrooms or good schools,
My father was one of the people who got education in the village.
He saw the glamor of the world outside his village
Through the eyes of his grandfather,
Who returned with wonderful and amazing stories about the world abroad.
My father became an idea
Going to school and doing something important in his life.
When he was seven,
He walked several miles to join himself at school.
parenthood,
They realized that their eldest son was about to leave them,
Kano is angry,
The village elders were angry.
How could he give up his family, his community?
But all he did was spark a spark inside my father
To discover, learn, search and do something unusual.
He left the village and went to medical school,
Where he met my mother,
The most wonderful person in the world I know.
Soya and Kamu built a hospital.
Where?
In a small town next to my parents’ village.
Stay with their families, their neighbors, their community
for better or worse,
They made a house at the top of the hospital where we grew up.
To this day, my mother has taken care of hundreds of thousands of patients,
Our entire village, 1,000 more.
When I was a second,
My father, Erdo, give me and my brother a suitable education,
They decided that they would move out of the village.
They joined one of the best private schools in Pakistan.
They were eager to start a new life with the new family.
But when their patients learned of the news, they came to gather,
They knocked at my mother’s door and called on her not to leave them.
“We will pray that your children go to the best schools,” they said.
“Not only in Pakistan but in the world, do not leave us here.”
My mother is the most faithful to education.
She wanted to give us the best chance of success in life.
But it simply could not put a foot in front of the other and progress
Leaving her patients behind.
So I decided to stay in the village
And put their trust in the fire that we can plant in our hearts,
Which will overcome all the conditions that will block our way.
With no proper schools around us, we have been taught at home for most of our lives.
Education has become less bad through textbooks,
And more of an adventure quest for exploration and exploration.
I learned literature from a local writer;
Fundamentals of Mathematics from a retired university professor;
Biology, two resident doctors from the village, my father.
The burner is fully lit.
I have dreamed of going to the best educational institutions in the world
I charted my way to Harvard, and realized my dream for life,
During that time,
I became the only woman in my family who left our village.
What is my brother’s way to Stanford University.
Just as the patients who were treated by my mother wished us.
It is not a matter of spite, but because of its circumstances.
Just as our parents,
Who had the passion to teach himself,
He became a doctor and served his village, because of his past attempt.
Actually we all come with limitations.
Think hard.
We come with name, first name and last name,
We are born male or female,
With a certain color of our skin, a certain sweat.
We are born in certain traditions, standards, and expectations.
All of these are our constraints.
Our constraints can keep us back,
While we may hate our constraints, we can not avoid them.
There is something else
Which I would like you today to take into account:
While our constraints can restrict us, you can at the same time give us direction.
You can give us passion, purpose, desire, spark.
Our limitations are what can light the fire within us.
So your first message is addressed to you
Is, rather than enticing yourselves to separate from your chains,
From the burdens of your past and your identity,
And become just like the next person,
What if you hug your unique restrictions, what if you recognized them,
Let her live and let her give you a goal and a goal?
Because the real passion, the desire of truth, the real goal,
Do not ever get inflamed without incendiary fire.
During the first semester at Harvard,
I learned a story from my colleague from Israel, Avi Kramer.
A young man with a rising star, a good heart and ambition
Ready to conquer the world with a gentle smile on his face.
As he began his career at Harvard,
His surrounding world has changed completely within days.
Before realizing,
He has the ability to walk, speak, move his hands or feed himself.
He was diagnosed with ALS,
It is a fatal disease fast and has no cure or cure.
Every inch of my body was tired of his chains,
His restraints were tightly tied in his wheelchair.
I give him about 1000 days to live.
But instead of attending his death – the world of computer trainee –
Avi investigated, understood and decoded the symbols
What happens to his body.
He wanted to know why there was no cure of the disease.
He looked at each problem one by one,
From the lack of multidisciplinary research
To the limited attention and absence of incentives in this area.
And put his plan against them.
He founded – the price of life -,
An organization dedicated to new forms of research and catalysts,
And address the causes
Why the scientific community was unable to find a cure for ALS.
It has now been almost a decade since Avi was first diagnosed,
My father is still strong.
Has extended these restrictions to the farthest and widest possible, and challenged,
Just as its constraints have challenged its survival.
So my second message to you is when you look at your limitations,
You must realize that your restrictions should not be left without doubts.
There is no reason why you should not check your restrictions,
Decode, challenge, reconfigure, and transform
If each generation leaves its restrictions as they are,
In the same way they found it,
Communities will never move forward.
On the other hand, if each of us embraces his restrictions,
Not so that frustrates us
But so that we can reshape and reform, and chart the future of our past,
We can move the world forward.
It was a long and hard road to Harvard,
But when I got there, I could not stay.
Instead of feeling proud, I felt deep guilt and embarrassment.
I could not keep away from the fact that while I was beyond Maicon,
My family, my village, Pico, where I have been for decades.
I learned that the children in Akri Helmu dream the same dream,
We share the same limitations.
Yet their lives and my life are a million miles apart.
So she left.
I left Harvard and went back to my village and met hundreds of children there.
I took their pictures to remember them always,
She asked them what they wanted to become when they grew up.
They shared their madness,
Fill my heart with love, hope, and finally, pride.
It was not until I encountered these beautiful supernatural eyes,
In the very middle of my village, Betty,
Looking through the lens of my camera,
Not even was the acoustical sound appearing in the small frame
And told me that he wants to become a scientist to be able to detonate enemies,
Have you made the decision to build a school in Acry.
at that moment,
I felt I had to take responsibility
To touch the life of this child and keep 1000 other lives.
I knew I had to give it
The ability to question and challenge its limitations,
Expectations and assumptions
Just as AVI questioned the default time given to him.
This was my responsibility, this was my chance.
Did I have the choice to give up?
The mission began to raise $ 100,000
And building a school for 100 children in Akari.
School where I hope
That these children can dig and achieve meaningful dreams
They learn that Isalo, they challenge and find the reasons for themselves.
A place where I can find the future of the past.
Supported by a wonderful group of friends, colleagues, partners,
We formed our organization, Dreamfly,
We have continued to build institutions and schools
Across Afghanistan, India, Rwanda and, soon, Latin America.
We have about 5000 lives.
This is a small point in the ocean, yes,
But sometimes, a small point is all it takes to start changing the sea.
So what we know about the restrictions is that they restrict us and push us back.
Limitations Living in the past,
In our past, and restrict us to our own barriers.
But what we do not realize
Is that when we pull those restrictions, we pull our barriers,
As much as the barrier does.
Our limitations are the only thing we have
Which can lead us to the transfer of heavy mountains from our past to the future.
So my third and final message to you is as follows:
Take a long look at your limitations.
On your roots, your identity, your barriers,
Ask yourself how you will use your distinctive restrictions,
What will you do with them, what will you let them do with you?
Without restrictions, the best you can do is progress as you.
You can chase your dreams, yes, you can create your future.
But as we progress to form a new identity,
New face, without restrictions bind you,
Without any doubt you will lose the person you were on. However, who are you:
Your history, your race, your race, things that hinder you,
Your assumptions.
Your unique ability to take everything came with you
Shaping a future that you can uniquely shape for the world.
Instead of separating ourselves from our constraints,
What if we could see them in their supernatural eyes,
Embrace them, and let them make fire inside us?
What if we could question them, challenge them, reshape them, and reformulate them?
What if we can use our constraints to make society progress, to make the past progress,
Rather than being tied to it,
And we make not only ourselves
But for our generation, our society, the world with us?
Suddenly, life without restrictions makes me feel that it is too small to live.
I apologize for not being able to be with you today because of the problem with my visa,
But given the theme of the event,
I think I should not allow any restriction to push me back.
Here I am; spiritually.
