Creating with the Electric Violin | Neil Pangilinan | TEDxLakeland

[Music]
so playing the violin for me is a lot
more than just simply pressing your
fingers on the strings it’s out out to
me it’s more about creating a picture
and a story and being able to connect
those thoughts and emotions that you’re
expressing for the audience it’s
something that I enjoy doing whether
it’s with the acoustic or the electric
violin or as with the traditional
acoustic violin you get a brighter much
more resonant sound and it’s also the
better type of violin when you’re
performing in an orchestra or you’re
with you playing in a recital
along with piano accompaniment the
electric violin allows for a lot more
variety of sounds because of its big
[Music]
with this I’m able to experiment with
with a lot of a lot of different of
tunes on here in the amp and I can
adjust its overall volume and its tone
to make an unique but interesting kind
of sound and with this loop machine
right here creativity really has no
limits because from here I can make my
own melodies harmonies and rhythms so
basically how this loop machine works is
that when I press it in its Lea starts
recording and from there I make my own
musical phrases and I press the pedal
again to initiate its loop effect and it
repeats itself over and over again and
once again it gives me a lot more
options to experiment with and overall
just have fun so this piece I’m going to
perform is one that I compose and it
will demonstrate how the electric violin
and
machine work together it’s called
revealed and I called this because of a
spiritual retreat that I went to last
summer and this piece reflects on my
experiences the good times and basically
