GET UP & GET IT DONE – Motivational Speech Compilation for Success & Studying

lots of people do not have the courage
to try to start a business and all I was
saying when I’ve written a book called
screw it just do it and it basically is
trying to say to people just give it a
try and she sometimes a very very small
amount of money is all that’s needed to
start a company I mean my mother found a
bracelet on the street and she handed
into the police station and after three
months the police there to sell it and
you know the the couple of hundred
dollars was really critical at a
critical time in the development of our
business so it’s always safe just to
give it give it again and your job as an
actress to give it your best shot each
every time so yes I’m going into it with
the idea that I’ll play it to the best
of my ability and they wouldn’t give it
to me the role if they didn’t think I
was capable of pulling it off or I
wouldn’t take it if I didn’t think I was
capable of pulling it off the cookie jar
is something I invented as you all know
your mom has a cookie jar and sometimes
you might have an Oreo sometimes you
might have a Chips Ahoy way sometimes
you might have a oatmeal raisin cookie
you never know just in there my cookie
jar has every single failure and success
of my life set my over cane so what
happens in this in time of life when
you’re stressed out and things get bad
even the hardest guy in the world me
everybody thinks and I think I’m the
hardest guy in the world you got to
believe that and I believe you are
something I will in my mind reach into
my cookie jar and sometimes you forget
how hard you are in times of need
because you’re you’re stressed but you
forget I’m a Navy SEAL I’m a ranger I’m
missing that but you forget all that cos
your life sucks I calm down take that
one second get control of my life
reaching the cookie jar
while you got called nigger your whole
life and you’re now the only person
histories you just dissing this put it
back in the cookie jar
reset my mind you have to remind
yourself of how badass you really are in
times of need that’s the cookie jar and
closest friends and my mom and my
closest confidants always say that I’m
very determined and very stubborn and
pushy and then it could be a good thing
and it can be a bad thing like it
definitely gets me what I want what I
want to need and I’m very vocal about
things in blunt but but you sort of have
to be that way you have to be your own
your own agent your own advocate in your
own you have to go for what you want to
be my best business decisions really
have to do with picking people deciding
to go into partnership with Paul Allen
is is probably at the top of the list
and then subsequently hiring a friend
Steve Ballmer and having somebody who
you totally trust who’s totally
committed who shares your vision yet he
has a little bit different set of skills
and also acts as a check on you you know
some of the ideas you come up with you
run by them because you know they’re
gonna say hey wait a minute you know
have you thought about this and that and
just you know the the benefit of
sparking off of somebody who’s who’s got
that kind of brilliance it’s not only
made it fun but it’s really led to a lot
of success so picking picking a partners
is crucial when God created this planet
he created up several species enough
you’re an atheist it’s okay call it the
force let me just say God for now setup
saved God the forest God the forest
let’s just say God right now God creates
the planet Earth and first of all he
creates which a lot of people and
different organizations want a perfect
social economic world where everything
is free don’t worry about a thing you’re
taking care of there’s no extra
imagination necessary cuz all gonna be
given to you so he creates the oyster
eases oyster I’m giving you a free house
to live in I’m calling it a shell I’m
the bottom of the ocean to protect you
from your enemies you have food clothing
all the foods you want protection
everything you want the perfectly taken
care of while you’re in your measly
little life as an oyster but you’re not
gonna go anywhere your stay there at the
bottom the ocean but you’re totally got
your free food free clothing for
everything one then God created
something called the Eagle Eagle whole
different species Eagle you want a house
you go out and build it take the top of
a mountain take the top of a tree go out
and build your own house you want some
food to eat no problem go out there and
find it eagle and the eagle flies
through miles in the winter time of rain
sleet snow and wind just to feed its
young did you know the Eagle fails
ninety-five percent of the time a total
failure it’s so big and cumbersome that
when it comes upon its prey
they’re wild they should offer a
different direction and it misses 5% of
the time it succeeds and what does
succeed to do it succeeded to be the
strongest bird in the sky the only one
that we know of anywhere in the world
that could fly into the thermals of a
hurricane and ride them to have fun
now the eagle unlike the oyster can go
any where it wants anywhere it wants ya
Gamble’s it does this on its own but it
goes wherever it wants now that eagle
and not the oyster is the emblem of
America and also on the flag of many
many countries you wouldn’t be in this
room right now if you weren’t Eagles
don’t only imagine start doing it thank
you can see it here and you have the
collision of the speed it will happen so
I see these shots I see these seizes I
don’t shy away from them a lot of times
people believe in seventeen
they heat themselves they don’t put it
out there
good you can have so claim it work hard
to get it when you get it
reach back hold someone else up each one
teach one
don’t just spire to make a living
aspire to make a difference I’m a very
effective person when I’m by myself and
when after working groups like I fall to
pieces like does not work well with
others is what it said in every report
card I got until I dropped out of high
school in the 10th grade and I think
that’s that’s very true so for me that
creative process is one where and
finding that cadence that you talked
about of making a video every day was
one where I removed every obstruction
between me and finishing it and other
people are the biggest obstructions I
have an idea well let’s talk through
that idea and the metaphor that I use of
discussing ideas in groups is like when
an idea at its inception it’s an ice
cube and it’s rock-hard and you can look
at it you can see it you can study and
you know what it is but when a
discussion begins you have to pass that
ice cube around the room it starts to
melt and melt and melt and after enough
discussions the ice cubes gone and
everybody’s hands are wet and nobody
quite remembers what that idea was
that’s a major obstruction so for me
when it comes to creation like remove
that obstruction don’t talk don’t
involve other people don’t need anything
from anyone to realize this new video
every 24 hours and that’s that’s wildly
effective if you’re failing repeatedly
then there’s probably something wrong
it’s possible that there’s something
wrong with the way that you’re
conceptualizing the world because you
have a choice right if if you keep
making sacrifices and they don’t work
there’s a binary choice and one is well
there’s something wrong with the
structure of reality and the other is
there’s something wrong with your
approach
and so then you might say well let’s
take the first idea there’s something
wrong with the structure of reality it’s
like you’re really gonna say that are
you you’re really going to come out and
say I know enough to judge the nature of
being and and then the alternative is
also quite frightening because then you
know you it’s you that’s making the
mistakes and you might be wrong at a
really deep level and that might mean
that a lot of you has to burn off and be
transformed maybe even things about
yourself that you think are admirable
and that you like because your position
you know your your self
conceptualization is so warped and wrong
and that’s really daunting but you know
when people set themselves up as the
judge of being I mean I’ve written about
this a fair bit in my new book which is
called 12 rules for life when people set
themselves up as the judge of being then
they take on what can only be described
as a kind of satanic arrogance because
they’ve actually taken to themselves the
moral right to criticize the structure
of existence itself it’s like you better
be careful when you do something like
that because you’re setting yourself up
as the judge of being the ability to
adjust is the entire game like I’m so
proud that I changed my mind every day
my dad used to get so pissed when I was
building wine library he would always be
like he’s like he would say like three
months ago you said Ricky was gonna be
the best employee I’m like I changed my
mind he fired him or or he’s like you
said sparkling wine was important now
you just eliminated it from the piece
bottom like I changed my mind like my
ability to only be comfortable in
massive chaos has been my biggest asset
as an entrepreneur like I would never
take a note like that scares the piss
out of me what these three people are
doing right now right and so now you
know now that may work for them and I’m
not like back to the opening statement
like you need to do you like some plenty
of people that make a fuckload more
money than me and one bigger take notes
the key the key though the key is way
too many people are doing like here’s a
good one you know what really pissed me
the baba i’m completely driven by like
happiness and like i’m crippled by like
chaos like you know vaynermedia which is
500 people update your vaynermedia is
like completely dictated by like I’m a
dictator of HR like all I care about is
the atmosphere all I care about is how
people intern all I care about is like
how people roll like I think I’ve fired
four most talented smartest people that
have worked for me because if you don’t
know how to play with the other boys and
girls you’re out because I suffocate
under you know conflict and negativity
and like nobody’s better than me so you
got to go
so what really pissed me off in tech
world was when Steve Jobs his book came
out when he was dying when it was all
about Steve three or four years ago I
literally watched a lot of my tech
startup friends start being like a to
their staff because jobs was tough
everybody fell into the romance stuff
like I have this big vision and I’m
gonna be a doc like Steve right and I
thought that was really interesting for
me to watch that half decade of like
literally watching people I know and
then watching them act differently
because the status or the icon of the
moment and you see a lot of that and so
like that is probably the energy I’m
trying to bring to this class today
which is you can look at like how people
roll and like it’s great to admire and
things of that nature but it’s so damn
important to stick to like your DNA
right and like what you’re good at and
to recognize that you need to surround
yourself whether it’s your co-founder or
whether it’s the people that work for
you like all I do is hire the people
that are the opposite of me that bring
the other value that bring me the
ability to remember what that meeting
was about and go make sure it happens
you know like whatever it may be right
and so I think that’s another thing that
anonymous ease they don’t stop
themselves that’s a typical situation so
you can have to look yourself in the
mirror this is hard to do sometimes it’s
say what am I really good at and what do
I suck at because you don’t want to
spend any of your time doing things
you’re not good I’ll give you an example
I hate logistics and operations but a
software company have to make 10 billion
discs a month you don’t like that you
better find a guy who knows how to do
that and you better make it your partner
very early on the process and I mean
part I mean you give him something to
give equity up to fulfill the weaknesses
in your own portfolio that is the key to
success I have never made any money
doing all myself ever so many businesses
started many failed that many the only
ones I’ve really made money on the
hardships where I found people that were
good at things that I wasn’t good at I
won’t need employees I’d be giving them
extra in the business so that they have
the same risks and desires that I have
there’s only two things in business that
matter one is opening it and the other
is being an employee guess which one you
want if you grew up happy – happy you
know like in fairy tale land not fairy
tale I mean if you grew up with you know
every Christmas you got a president
every birthday you got a present and
every holiday was a holiday and
everything was peachy of your parents
took care everything you just grew up I
don’t think that prepares you for the
world you know my mother had a really
bad childhood and my father had a bad
childhood and I had a bad childhood
but I loved my childhood even though it
was bad
I loved it I feel like it’s taught me so
much and I feel like nothing can faze me
you know nothing in this world nothing
can surprise me
it might set me back but only
momentarily only to spring back and I
think it’s helped me um to learn it
really did help me learn and since my
mother had a bad childhood
she knows the importance of being honest
and the importance of facing each
situation as it comes and not dealing in
fairytale land being realistic about the
problem and analyzing it and solve it
see what you can do to solve it so if
you have a happy childhood you tend to
want your child to have a happy
childhood so you tend to want to keep
the bad things out and I don’t think
that’s good because you don’t pan for
the world we don’t get the wrong idea I
feel like I’m being gloomy I don’t mean
just be like everything’s bad out there
but I mean when the good things coming
they are gonna come and everybody knows
that good things are gonna come and
you’re gonna see them for yourself you
guys do you think but it’s hard to see
the bad things and everybody wants to
feel the bad things that’s where it gets
complicated and it gets real frightened
that’s when everybody gets surprised and
oh my god I’m committing suicide that’s
too much overwhelm in it but that’s it
if you know about it won’t be so
overwhelming no think about that it’s
it’s very easy to be seduced by doing
things efficiently trying to do a lot of
things well I don’t believe that’s the
most important thing the most important
thing is picking the right things to do
in the first place
and that’s being effective versus just
being efficient so within a startup its
success I don’t think it’s measured by
how many things you can do at once its
measured by how effectively you’re able
to pick the one or two things into the
highest priority and there’s always
going to be a seduction to get
distracted and focus on 20 things at
once and the most effective
entrepreneurs I know are very good at
focusing on one or two things and either
eliminating the rest with delegating to
other people
or outsourcing it so it’s not done
within the team but it’s actually two
third parties there’s another rule in my
book which is rule 9 assume that the
person that you’re listening to knows
something you don’t
well they do the person you’re listening
to knows some things you don’t you can
be sure of that
now whether or not you can get to them
is a different matter but if you do get
to them it’s a real deal for you
that’s why you want to listen to the
other person’s arguments is because
you’re not everything you could be you
don’t know the pathway forward with as
much clarity as you could and it’s
possible this is one of the wonderful
things that I’ve had the privilege of
experiencing as a clinician you know
because people it’s like I live inside a
Dostoyevsky novel as a clinician people
come in and they tell me about their
lives and I listen to them and they tell
me things that are just absolutely
beyond belief you know and I learn from
my clients constantly they’re they’re
telling me honestly about their
experience they tell me things they
wouldn’t tell anyone else because I
actually listen to them but part of the
reason I listen is because I’m desperate
to listen it’s like there’s a
possibility I’m gonna do something
stupid in the next five years that’s
gonna be like fatal and there’s some
small possibility that if we have a
decent discussion that you’ll tell me
something that will eliminate some of my
blindness so that I don’t have to fall
into that particular pit and if you have
a good sensitivity for the depth of the
pit then you know you’re pretty bloody
motivated to avoid it and so and that
and that and that dialog is it’s it’s
dialogic it’s dial logos right it’s
shared logos it’s the way that we redeem
ourselves mutually moving forward I hear
a lot of guys saying right now like hey
only do the things you want to do dude I
do stuff I don’t want to do every single
day okay so I don’t know who these
people are that don’t do the things they
don’t want to do maybe they were given a
business or something but I’m gonna tell
you something man if you don’t do the
things you don’t want to do you’re not
gonna grow your business you won’t keep
your business I’m telling you you have
to be willing to do you got to be so
obsessed that you don’t collect care see
an obsessed person doesn’t care if they
have to clean a toilet uh-huh you know
an obsessed person doesn’t care if they
if they don’t like that activity but
they have to do it you’re obsessed
you’re in it you do it anyway no matter
what I remember my mom told me one day
she’s like you know grant I love you
just the way you are because I still I’m
telling her about all these dreams I
have as a child right yeah and I was
reminded when my sister told me like 30
years later you know grant you’ve done a
lot we love you just the way you are and
I’m like dude I wonder how many times
I’ve been told that you know and the
fact is so what they love me just the
way
I am I don’t I don’t love me just the
way I am which opens up to this whole
field of people that’s like just love
yourself the way you are look if you’re
broke you’re not living on purpose you
don’t like your job you can’t get away
from your job dude if you’re stuck in a
house you don’t like why would you want
to love that you should become obsessed
with hating it man it’s obsessed or
average one of the two so pick just pick
get a t-shirt obsessed or get another
t-shirt average which one would you be
more proud wearing right who do I want
to be man who do I want to be how do i
how do I want to die man I want to
dial-in delegate everything that I think
is not the single most important things
in the world and then I might go manage
the things that I think are the most
important things in the world luckily
for me hence why I’ve been able to build
big companies I don’t think most things
matter so I don’t think I’m any
different than anybody else
I actually think everybody is a
delegator and a micromanager I just
think that my radar of what’s important
is different yes we need to do something
with that that’s the guys that’s it
right there I’m just like you we’re all
the same we all delegate we all
micromanage the difference is I don’t
think most things matter and what do I
mean by that as I’m trying to think
about somebody watching us for the first
time instead of alluding to like people
that have watched forever most things
don’t matter like it like I don’t know
like just bladder that’s what it means
like you know like if I was like I don’t
know I don’t think lighting matters as
much as d-roc like I just don’t think
things matter like I don’t think like
one client that’s gonna put us out of it
like I don’t think one employee’s gonna
kill our atmosphere like like like I I
don’t think a lot of things matter I
don’t think like like a misspelling in a
deck is something that really matters to
a lot of people in my company it just
doesn’t matter to me I just don’t think
so guys guys I don’t think we’re gonna
lose a scalp because we put the eye
before the E and if we do them idiots
I don’t think not being I don’t think
not wearing shoes in an establishment is
you know the biggest thing in the world
clearly if you’ve watched le v1 some
people do and guess what I do not judge
do not judge everybody’s allowed to do
their thing it’s just like parenting I
will never speak my parenting I talk
about it but it’s very holistic like
this is what I do not what I’m telling
you to do this is me but like so
ultimately I think that I’m both like
everybody in the world I just think that
I deem what’s most important at a very
very high level on things that most
people you know what a lot of you were
commenting about my five-minute meetings
most of you because you’re part of my
community you think it’s great a lot of
comments in YouTube and Facebook I’m
like oh I like daily because Gary spends
5 that’s nice
I’ve one comment I work in a small and I
was whoever said this is gonna see this
and be like holy crap he reads
everything I work I’ve worked at small
companies where the boss didn’t even
know my name you know what I mean like
this is cool but do you know many people
think it’s stupid I have a lot of people
in my life to think that I’m very busy
and I have a lot of things to do and why
in the world Gary it’s not scalable it’s
not sustainable yeah you’re making that
face because you’re so in our cocoon but
like boy just like like you know like
they’re like don’t do that it’s not bad
nobody expects you to do it not at this
scale and you have a great culture and
you have great intent just do that I’m
like nope this thing matters to me
so micromanaging the hello into my
company three to six months in and a lot
of people outsource to an HR person or
the leadership so I do unscalable things
all the time micromanaging if I deem
them the most important pitching new
business
I like to micromanage that because it’s
important to win business like money
helps me keep doing everything I don’t
like to think too far ahead so you
haven’t taught I don’t like too far
ahead people set like goals long
distance goals and shit that’s too much
for me I already feel like I’m living it
and then I just carry on the own that
you know carry on day by day already
living the final goal the goal of being
the world champion I already carry
myself like I’m not world champion I
already speak like I’m a world champion
and and that’s it I just carry on day by
day
so I’ll take it as a corpse a lot again
like I said you were awesome
ask me about the future I’ll let you
I’ll let you know a little bit closer
and remain as far all I can see right
now is the cold that’s all I can see get
something you never had you have to do
something you never did Les Brown’s a
motivational speaker he made an analogy
about this he says imagine you’re on
your deathbed and standing around your
deathbed are the ghosts representing
your unfulfilled potential the ghosts of
the ideas you never acted on the ghosts
of the talents you didn’t use and
they’re standing around your bed angry
disappointed and upset they say we came
to you because you could have brought us
to life they say and now we have to go
to the grave together so I ask you today
how many ghosts are going to be around
your bed when your time comes
every single person when they’re in
their teens in their early 20s they they
care so much about other people and how
they’re perceived and what impression
they make and I wanted to be perfect I
wanted to be good at everything and big
a student and be
prettier and skinnier and successful and
all these things and I cared about what
people said about me how they felt about
me and as I get older I just realize
that that is that month other people
won’t make me happy it has to be from
within me and I need to keep doing
whatever makes me happy and whoever
responds to that great whoever doesn’t
respond to that it’s fine to hmm
but the less I care about other people’s
opinions the better I feel about myself
and the more I do things that make me
happy I’m getting more and more
intrigued by mindset because I used to
think of it as fluffy like self-help and
now I think it more as strategy what’s
your strategy in life somebody asked me
on Instagram after I posted a scary if
the mindset has been skewed how can you
bring it back and I answered with by
surrounding yourself with people who
have the mindset you aspire to my
friends please understand that mindset
is controllable in the same way that all
our opinions are controllable the key is
to add more people with optimism and cut
people with negativity it’s very very
simple now it’s very hard to cut people
with pessimism cynicism and negativity
when they are the people that are the
closest to you parents siblings spouse
but the bottom line is if you’re asking
the question I’m gonna give you the
answer the answer is add more people
with positivity and optimism and cut
people with pessimism and cynicism who
you surround yourself matters what
content you consume matters I basically
suffocate myself for a long period of my
time and created an environment that was
based on offense and optimism and now I
know no different please do the same for
you make that move mold and I mean mold
your mindset by what you consume and
with whom you consume it I gotta make a
commitment to service you got to make a
commitment to like hey I have a target I
know that when we don’t achieve targets
here in my office the first thing I ask
regardless the internet department if
it’s my accounting department on
collections or it’s my sales department
I’m gonna ask a question what is the
target
Oh target results in no sales so if
you’re in parts if you’re in service
look have a target measure that target
hourly if you really want to get results
measure your target every hour to see
what do we get in the last 60 minutes I
promise you do those two simple things
don’t even learn anything about how to
sell anybody anything have a target
measure at every hour and I guarantee
your sales will come up when you’re
asleep ladies and gentlemen you need
your dreams I’m here to tell you that
when you’re wide awake you also need
your dreams you must have your goals
you’ll never make it as a wandering
generality you must become a meaningful
specific if you’re going to work
tomorrow because that’s what you did
yesterday you’re not going to be as good
tomorrow as you are yesterday because
now you’re two days older and no closer
to the gold which you do not have you
can’t make it as a wandering generality
did you feed off the fact that people
maybe underestimated you or didn’t
respond really often Utley definitely I
think that uh you know it was there was
certainly like a rebellious like
youthful rage kind of in me and there
was also you know the fact of the the no
getting away from fact that people
telling me you don’t belong like you’re
not gonna succeed because you’re this
color then you want to sell those people
did you know that you can and you will
if you’re listening in you’re over 42
let’s just use my age there’s something
interesting you said something that I
help a lot of people that are younger it
only has to do with one thing they
actually believe in the technology we
live in right this room is filled with
guys right now who’ve taken advantage of
YouTube or Instagram or just the
Facebook’s of the world and the only
thing I need to do to break through
somebody who’s 47 in the suburbs of
London who has a mortgage debt and three
children is for them to understand that
unlike when he or she and I grew up and
there was no internet
the thought of like having a happy life
was separate than taking care of what
you were supposed to take care of the
fact that everybody can come home
tonight at 6 7 8 9 p.m. and then take
out their phone or their iPad or
whatever and get to work for 3 more
hours and go to sleep at midnight get
their good six or seven hours of sleep
I’m not talking about don’t sleep a lot
of people get me confused my big thing
is if you’re not happy if you’re happy
and you make 37,000 pounds a year Mazel
Tov do you but if you are not happy if
you hate your job right you can do
something about it instead of blaming
brexit or blaming Trump or blaming your
mom like do something about it and my
point is it’s the internet work to your
potential not your quota if you want to
stay really motivated if you want to
answer the question to why people that
have already made it keep pushing it is
because they don’t operate on quotas
they operate off potential they’re
driven to reach their potential this is
also tied to their ethical obligation
they know what they’re capable of
nobody can tell you what you’re capable
of you’re the only one that knows okay
so work to your potential not your quota
quotas are numbers who made them up some
guy says okay your quota is blah blah
okay
based on what how do you come up with
that quota he only picked that quota
that number because he thinks is
significant are compared to other people
maybe in your industry
look don’t operate on quotas you want
them clearly you want them but you want
to be driven to reach your potential not
just some numbers some mechanics hey my
potential I know nobody else knows that
I know what it is you know yours work to
your potential not just a quota and I
promise you you will be on fire day and
night every single human being has value
and my value is not determined on how I
look or what job I have or where I’m
from where I was born how much money all
that stuff is nothing
so many teenagers you know tease each
other for how we look and I tell the
teenagers do you think that I’m cool
enough to be a friend they’re like yeah
of course except but I have no arms no
legs they said doesn’t matter sit really
so it doesn’t matter that I have no arms
no legs I said no it doesn’t matter I
said then actually if it doesn’t matter
then why do we kill each other with our
words if it actually doesn’t matter why
do we look ourselves in the mirror and
see ugly instead of valuable what I
asked you today
what are you looking for if I gave you a
billion dollars would you be happy if
you gave me a billion dollars I’d be
very happy but then if my mom dies
tonight am I happy no with all the money
in the world I’ll never be happy
Mika’s money is something that cannot
heal the soul it’s so hard I thought
doing this research I thought going into
it there were authentic people and
inauthentic people who I had I did not
find any evidence of that at all what I
found is authenticity zatt practice and
you choose it every day sometimes every
hour of every day
and it’s a practice it’s not I just wake
up and ham authentic it’s that when you
walk into a meeting you have to make the
choice am I gonna show up and let myself
be seen am I gonna if I’m gonna raise my
hands like Wow y’all look super excited
I don’t know what in the hell you’re
talking about you know that’s a choice
yes uh-huh
right yeah and what and to be make that
authentic choice you know let go of the
faker faker ooh I said yeah I call it
the faker roof but you know what I have
found I mean I consider myself to be an
authentic person but when I am
inauthentic is when I’ve allowed myself
to be around people who were not and
then I have to fake it to be with them
it’s contagious yes so they’re faking it
yeah then and you know you’re in that
situation when you do that uh-huh that
kind of haha you’re laughing at jokes
that aren’t funny
you’re pretending to be comfortable when
you’re not and lose your own
authenticity yeah and I do it Oscar how
did you go
being my assistant to a famous big-time
movie producer just by never taking no
for an answer I’m kind of following
believing I could do anything which I
learned in the nice dad’s studio all
right seriously this guy would just over
and over again I’d never seen anything
like it you just say you’re smart figure
it out you’re smart figure it out you’re
smart figure it out I don’t care how
long it takes just make it beautiful and
that sounded a little weird at the time
because you’re used to working at a
restaurant or being a landscaper but
it’s actually really empowering and it
took me a while to figure that out
and the more movies I made the more I
realized it didn’t matter it kind of
applies to everything there is
ridiculous confusion in the system I am
winning and will win at all-time levels
get ready you will tell your grandkids
that you once saw me live like I mean
that and by the way it’s not because by
the way I don’t by the way real quick
cuz I don’t want claps for that I need
you to understand how I think about that
it’s not because I think I’m fancy or
great I think it’s because I’m very
common simple about one simple tiny
thing underpriced the tension it’s so
grossly underpriced I’m asking you let
me tell you the story about MTV when MTV
came out in the early to mid 80s how
many people remember when MTV is
launched when empty when MTV was
launched the biggest bands in the world
the biggest bands in the world got
together for a dinner that one of their
managers told me about and decided that
they would not make music videos for MTV
because that was giving away music for
free that why would we spend money to
make a video put it on MTV but when
that’s giving people the music for free
and they will not go out and buy the
record at the same token up-and-coming
artists Madonna Duran Duran and on and
on understood that it was where all the
attention of the youth was and it was a
gateway drug to the sale they understood
Facebook and Instagram at this second is
the most underpriced scaled jab in the
history of marketing except for one
other moment from 2001 to 2005 Google
AdWords was a ridiculously under priced
jab how many people here took advantage
of Google 2001 to 2005 raise your hands
so for you you really know that’s how I
did it
Wine Library had no money but when
you’re buying people who want to buy
wine for 5 and 10 cents a click it works
out real fast when it’s that underpriced
one company one company during that time
acted the way I’m aspiring to act right
now as Gary Vaynerchuk on social media
one company from 2001 to 2005 spent
enough to justify how underpriced it was
that company was a small book company
called Amazon Amazon as you all know now
is the company of our world it will win
everything it hasn’t even begun
literally the only thing that will stop
Amazon is antitrust government
involvement otherwise it will destroy
everything
it got its fuel from Google 2001 to 2005
that occurrence is happening right now
on Facebook and Instagram and we’re not
squeezing the juice out of that fruit
anywhere close at least we have picked
up the fruit the artist thing is the
games were trade straight away I was no
different
soon as I finished fill I was always
getting pestered what are you doing with
your life you know they’re still not and
they didn’t know what it was they didn’t
know if MMA was didn’t know what I just
didn’t know it could make a career as
far as they were concerned me mind I’m
talking about as far as they were
concerned I’m just getting into a cage
and fighting with some other guy they
didn’t know nothing about it
no one did really but I knew and I mean
I knew or their and then I got it I end
up getting a trade just to keep them
quiet Azusa had a lot a lot of fights
with me dial-up what trade did you get I
end up getting a trade as a plumber and
literally open the back eyes and our
open we closed the Wicklow Mountains and
feeling like that but say it was one of
the biggest sites in Europe kill Tiernan
was right at that ski in place huge and
now it’s just abandoned now it’s just
deserted so I used to go up there 6
o’clock 5 spellcard monos on that m50 I
just had to walk to the end for about
half an hour from your hell was way for
some limited cut I didn’t even know he
drove on the m4 and I had to flag him
down nightmare yeah two hours down on
the m50 two hours by usually 14-hour
days and I was there I was the first
year so I was the I had to go and do
everything like to go to the shop I’d to
go and get this and get that so I always
have trouble dollars like this isn’t for
me
this is not for me how long did you last
I lasted 18 18 months stealing but it
was tough you know just like it wasn’t
wasn’t alive for me and then and then
John said because I was training with
jhana as well at the time and then John
got on Twitter says there I have a show
on the show would like to fight honey
and then that was he I just packed it in
didn’t show up Mead I used to come in
and punch the head on me and like try
and drag me out of bed and I just
wouldn’t go and I mean had opal or for a
good few years when I’m over about and
and that was there I just packed it in
quit and then focused on training and
that’s I knew I knew I knew what was
gonna happen I knew I was gonna get here
they didn’t there’s a lot of stressful
years I mean a lot of tough times um but
I proved them wrong I proved myself
right you know that’s what you want you
know you’re going to do it
all of these negatives that have been
bothering you they pick up their baggage
and get out and just move out they can’t
live in a positive mind can you imagine
a negative frame of mind and a positive
frame of mind occupying the same space
at the same time could you imagine that
no you can’t because it can’t be done
and did you know that’s the slightest
bit of a negative and mental attitude is
sufficient to destroy the power of
prayer did you know that the slightest
bit of a part of a negative mental
attitude isn’t sufficient to destroy
your plan whatever it is you’re doing
carrying out your definiteness of
purpose you have to move with courage
with faith with determination in
connection with carrying out your
definiteness of purpose it is far more
fun to die on your sword than to die on
someone else’s I’m inspired YouTube
make this the episode thing you’ll get
whatever you want Tyler but this is the
core of it you just saw it on stage
that’s just you just saw it on stage
dying on your sword is better than dying
on someone else’s so many of you are
doing things making decisions and
navigating your lives based on somebody
else’s thesis you’re doing it because
you think it’s the right thing because
your dad’s telling you it’s the right
thing you’re doing what you’re doing
right now cuz you’re pandering to your
boss even though you don’t believe in it
this is how it’s gonna play out you are
doing things right now yesterday you
made a decision that you don’t believe
in but you’re smart you did it because
you know how your company’s scores
here’s the problem with disruption and
innovation right now you’re being
rewarded for being a yes person and in
36 months you’re gonna be fired for
being a yes person and you’re doing it
because you just need the security of
your job I’m telling you right now if
you’re watching this vlog and you’ve got
like that means you have a certain DNA
please I implore you please die on your
sword not somebody else’s if you’re
gonna lose it’s much more fun to lose
based on what you thought do you mean do
you know how many of you are gonna lose
on somebody else’s thesis it’s gonna
kill at you it’s gonna eat at you it’s
going to be the worst feeling so please
pause this video right now and ask
yourself am i doing my because of me
then you’re good whether you’re winning
or losing or am i doing it because
somebody else is telling me it’s the
right way or I’m subconsciously
pandering to please somebody or
something because I need the short-term
stability figure that the gal you know
it and I know it you just need to do
something about it you
