Test Drive: 2011 Jeep Patriot

if you live in the city but you have a
need for an off-road larger SUV and this
might just be the car for you hi I’m
Randall I stone of watchmojo.com and
today we’re taking a look if you
brand-new 2011 Patriots the inside of
the Jeep Patriot is really nothing to
write home about it’s fairly simple and
that’s not necessarily a bad thing
everything is right in the middle here
where you’d want it to be you’ve got
your full entertainment system no
touchscreen or anything but all the
buttons are there it’s easy to read
they’re easy to get to your climate your
seat heaters shifter everything is very
big and the rugged and tough looking it
looks like it’s built to last you’ve got
this really big cubby hole over here you
have your big climate vents the steering
wheel is kind of very big and hard and
down here you have your four-wheel-drive
loft which again is very important if
you do want to take your Jeep Patriot
off the road otherwise this car is
pretty much like any other car on the
road you’ve got a very simple gauge
cluster really there’s not much going on
there but it gets the job done and
everything is right there where you need
it to be you also have a full back seat
which fits three full-sized adults very
comfortable you have a nice sized trunk
as well so what this is is a very nicely
sized SUV it’s not too big it’s not too
small and it’s also great for city
drives you don’t feel like you’re in a
huge vehicle and because of the CVT
you save on gas you’re driving a bit
more conservatively but you still have
the all wheel driving the offer
capabilities that Jeep offer you so if
you’re in the market for a car like this
it really is the best of both worlds
unfortunately there’s really nothing
exciting about driving the Jeep Patriot
the chief brands itself as being an
off-road adventurous type of company and
I really don’t feel that with this Jeep
but the Wrangler I did I felt like I
could go anywhere I could do anything it
has fruit strengths and it forced an
attitude but in this Jeep I really don’t
feel anything and as a 2.4 liter
four-cylinder that pushes out about 170
horsepower and 165 pound feet of torque
it’s not a great deal for a car this
size and it is an SUV it has a full back
seat a full trunk it’s heavy
so you really don’t feel it go anywhere
when I push the throttle I don’t feel
like this car is doing anything I don’t
feel like it’s giving me any sort of
thriller that actually wants to go
anywhere I mean it just feels like a
normal vehicle and I think that’s a
shame because when Jeep is branding
itself as an off-road company that has
these exciting adventurous go anywhere
type of cars you want to feel that when
you get behind the wheel and I really
don’t it might not be the most exciting
car on the road but it definitely gets
the job done if there’s one thing Jeep
does well it’s offer capabilities and
this brand new Jeep Patriot is no
exception
