my name is Marilla Berg and I have quite
an unusual story my mom is a Jehovah’s
Witness and my dad is a Muslim and now
to make a very long story short that
didn’t last long and I grew up as one of
Jehovah’s Witnesses with my mother now
from a very young age I knew I did not
fit in I was born for a different life I
wanted to be a rock star and you can
imagine how that was received in
Jehovah’s Witnesses you see the life I
wanted to live was basically a life of
the devil but this whole mixed religion
thing left me with so many questions
probably the biggest one being if mom is
so sure she has the truth and dad is
just as convinced he asked the truth
which one is it
I decided none of them
and after entering Jehovah’s Witnesses
summer assembly very very drunk in a
police car I figured it was time to
leave I mean who was I kidding I left
home at the age of 17 to chase my dreams
and after one hell of an identity crisis
a lot of partying moving to Copenhagen
crashing on floors and couches and just
basically starting over in every aspect
of life
finally some day in 2010 this dude adds
me on Facebook it turns out he’s in a
rock band and that they need a singer
this would turn out to be my ticket to
the Danish music scene flash-forward and
a bunch of European and Asian tours
later and a Danish Music Award I now
live the life that I dreamed of as a
Jehovah’s Witness kid and I could not be
more proud that teenage me chose to
follow her heart and her dreams

I was born in the land of politicians so
much talk here but no one ever listens
where where where should I go mama
taught me how to be a Christian daddy

Abraham what on earth is the point of
this mayhem in this outdated or what are
we fighting for it is and you won’t even
know anymore
