VT Finalist | National Geographic Bee 2013

hi I’m Tyler Jagger I’m the 2013 mont
state govt winner I’m a seventh grader
at Manchester elementary middle school
and Manchester Center in the mock
Manchester is a small town between the
konica range and the green mountain
range in the Appalachian Mountains this
is the southwestern corner come on
behind me is equinox Mountain largest
mount an image chronic range behind me
now on the other side of the valley of
the Green Mountains part of the
Appalachian mountain range on that Ridge
is the Appalachian Trail which goes from
Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine
Manchester is a small town with a
year-round population of only about
4,500 but we get hundreds of thousands
of visitors every year people come to
hike shop at the outlet stores fish the
battenkill river go to the theater or to
a concert or to visit the North Shire
bookstore the world’s greatest
independent bookstore coming up on the
left if you came to Manchester you’d
also probably come to Hildy Robert Todd
Lincoln summer home Robert Todd Lincoln
was the son of abraham lincoln in the
winter people come to ski at bromley or
Stratton mountains I’ve been skiing
since I was four from January to March
all the schools get out at twelve thirty
one day a week so we can ski which is
great Vermont is also of course famous
for its beautiful fall foliage it is the
greenest state in the US with the
smallest carbon footprint and lots of
policies to reduce pollution which I am
very proud of other things Vermont is
known for our been injuries ice cream
and maple sugaring I love Vermont
because its natural beauty and its great
people
here’s my fever fact did you know that
only four states do not allow billboards
hawaii alaska main and of course from
our leather random fact is that
Montpelier is the only state capital out
of McDonalds all the Vermont is great I
love to travel I’ve been around many
places in Europe and across the u.s. I’m
going on a trip to Iceland the summer
with my family if I had a free ticket
anywhere in the world I would probably
use it to go to Central America because
of its natural beauty such as volcanoes
and it’s 18 chink cultures such as some
Mayans and Aztecs I find the best way to
study geography is through blank maps
playing geography games on the internet
and let’s face it cramming never hurts I
also learned a lot of geography from
reading about history and politics when
I grow up I would love to be the United
States ambassador to the United Nations
if I were in charge of the earth for a
day I would want to tackle three things
us obesity rates the global financial
crisis and climate change I guess that
would be a pretty busy day was thinking
about which tends to explore I would
trade places with but realized that most
of them have difficult lives and died
and nasty ways if I had to choose I
probably choose Neil Armstrong because
seeing the Earth from space would be
amazing when I got my first talking
globe at age three I could never have
imagined it would lead me to the
National Geographic Bee finals in
Washington DC someday thanks for the
opportunity I can’t wait
