cuz I hadn’t talked to hunky and months
right Jocko Austin is tall semi-dark and

today we’re speaking with a comedian who
just says it as it is today you’re one
of the most requested comics but we’re
actually really lucky to have you here
because at one point you quit comedy
when I first started doing stand-up I
did it for about a year and a half and
then I quit I figured no I don’t like
this blah blah blah I got laid off from
my job and the Canadian government was
taking care of me I’m like you know I’m
gonna get back in the comedy and I got
back into it and 15 years later I am
sitting here in front of you doing this
interview online I walk in there it’s
some kind of redneck Riverdance going on
in this place and these are some
dedicated people cuz they actually take
the time to dress up for this shit have
you seen them I mean whether you’re a
singer or dancer or comedian it’s not
like you can go to school graduate and
get a job it’s kind of like the school
of hard knocks and I had a lot of people
say oh it’s not worth it you’re not
gonna do it blah blah I just you know I
plugged along and I believed in those
people who told me I couldn’t do it I’m
very arrogant and stubborn I’m like they
know I can do this I got the hats on and
the belt buckles shiny boots the musical
come on to be like Oh Martha that’s our
dude you got the greatest life in the
world sweet is there anything that still
surprises you about the audience and
their reactions after this long I had a
woman once p there’s no way I’m handling
this evening sober I know bottle of
sambuca shooters guy just stares me
sambuca what are you gay your act is
very observational humor you take every
day’s activities like dancing in a
southern bar and you just say it as it
is and it’s hilarious I guess all
comedians to a point we see things just
a little different in
but I I am more like you said a
storyteller we don’t have those fancy
shmancy shampoo / drinks we got this
thing we call a prairie fire y’all know
yeah fuck you I didn’t know what it was
well bit in that bar that we really
really shouldn’t be in and we’ve all
dealt with technology that we have no
idea what we’re doing with so that’s
what I I guess what i try to do ask
yourself this question have you ever
ever kicked back a tequila and said to
yourself you know what this shit just
doesn’t make me gag enough what could I
add to this I’m kind of ahead of where I
wanted to be so I’m just enjoying the
ride I’m just happy to be doing
something that I really love to do oh

these good old boys weren’t so happy to
