I’m Jamie dutcher I’m Jim Bucher and
more wildlife filmmakers to get into the
life’s of wolves we ended up living with
them for six years and we started with
bottle-feeding puppies so we built a
bond and a trust with them we wanted to
see how a family of wolves got along as
a group and that’s what we did
so many people have a preconception of
what wolves are all about and I think
from the title of our book the hidden
life of wolves the hidden life is the
life that they really live that we want
to reveal to everybody
[Music]
we were camping right with the wolves
for these six years so that our presence
wasn’t something that was new to them we
were always there we were like furniture
and we would watch them get up in the
morning and and they mid-ranking wolves
would get up and they’d all go to the
Alpha and and lick his face and greet
him and then go away well they did the
same thing to us we would go out and be
amongst them they’d come up with sniff
and then lick our face and then go on
their way people live with myth and
misconception stories you know old
stories that their great grandpappy told
and you know aren’t true and and we just
want to reveal to the world an animal
that is so intelligent and so social and
so important if there are keystone
species our ecosystems are already
becoming healthier with wolves
we need wolves and wolves need us to let
them live it’s time we understood it
they’re a social caring family animal
and a lot like us in a lot of ways
they’re devoted to one another they
really look out for each other and it’s
so easy to watch wolves and not only see
our family pet but also to see ourselves
they really are a reflection of us
