the fritz hansen chair is a design
classic and I’ve got to try and think of
a piece of artwork of mine that would
best suit it now all my stuff is very
large-scale
I build dinosaurs so I came across this
character I invented a couple of years
ago called the chili con carnival
he’s like a tex-mex dinosaur and he
likes his chilies which I know Jamie
does as well I thought wouldn’t be
really good idea to kind of brand him on
there like keep sealing it however I
can’t make a branding iron
just for one-off thing so why I’ve had
to do is a kind of a cheating method and
what I’ve done is I’ve created some
stencils of the artwork applied those to
the chair and then we’re gonna sandblast
the chair and hopefully that’s going to
a road away a little layer of the wood
and then I’m gonna paint it up to make
it look like it’s branded so the
finished thing will look like that but
there’s a whole artistic process
involved to get it to that stage food is
appetizing to the eye chefs are artists
in a funny way so really there’s a quite
a few parallels between what I do as an
artist and what chefs do with food I
love the way that you can make people
kind of feel emotional about artwork you
can kind of build in things triggers
that will hopefully kind of remind them
of the past or item of good times and
the same way food does as well when you
eat kind of some amazing food you think
oh that’s my grandma’s or that was so in
the same way you can play with people’s
senses from what I gather the most
important thing is the education of a
healthy diet and what Jamie can do is
obviously put a big spotlight onto that
even get into the front of politicians
and influential people but unless
there’s a ground force of everyday
people spreading the word it doesn’t
move much further than that he’s done a
lot in the last ten years of his own
back it’s time for everyone else to now
start picking up the pace and taking on
a little bit over the work as well and
hopefully this could spread and do a lot
of good things to a lot of people
hopefully someone’s gonna buy my chair
what they’ll be left with
a chance hopefully very fun
if dinosaurs were still around we’d
