Recognizing ASEAN to Identify Yourself | Quyen Jos & An Tran | TEDxUEH

69
six hundred and twenty nine million
people that is half of our population
and those half of the population are
under 30 thank you and me so what does
the numbers the numbers say that as I
understand this prime state because
there are so many young people right but
if you want to make a game for yourself
here keep in mind that you’ll be
extremely competitive as it I first
heard about them when I was in 11th
grade in a history class and at the time
studying about it at the letter as I
enter government of organization make it
seem too political you know to macro and
to distant for me but back then I didn’t
know that as I was always there being
very people centered and be varying
youth-oriented
and in order to make four years of this
young workers government private and
external sectors at all trying and the
country to engage this young population
into the
well you may be asking what do I know
about all of this I’m a university
student is like most of you here but I
have stepped out of my comfort zone to
have travel area and as check up and I
have training several exchangeable brand
within the region I was the youngest
delegate for the shape for sanitation in
Japanese youth program I was a
representative for big national
university for the FAI in the university
students week in Indonesia well it’s a
model more so from my exposure and my
experiences as a lab I can only really
sure there’s so many so many great
opportunities out there waiting for you
to correct them just like I did and
things to defect that as an countries
are opening doors to welcome how the
countries in we’re having so many great
products and services like this or they
say here the question 5-10 years ago it
was just uncommon it was just hard to
travel abroad but now take a quick look
at you thinking and you kind of see
every woman helping you on planes going
to Bangkok to Singapore to baton
well it’s true that we’re we’re learning
a lot more so we can afford something
like that but it’s actually very
different we don’t even need a visa to
go to this country and flights are so
much cheaper now and let’s talk about
work years ago working abroad seems like
something you know very out of reach but
the picture is different now so half a
year ago I was I had an internship with
a social enterprise that supports planet
and enemy
in Vietnam and I’m working there I was
totally by the amount of people coming
from Singapore from Malaysian going into
our country to set up their own business
and I remember this one guy who came
here he was 20 years old
wait and he was running his own startup
here and the funny thing is that he had
many Vietnamese graduate students
working under him and before I got
exposed to a dad I would say that I was
a very very proud person you know I was
always off school always you can get the
high scores yeah and you imagine in
every society we have we have like a
commune play like a checklist where we
write down other things that make a
person consider to be to be decent to be
fine to be potential like you know going
to be particle winning original price on
a certain subject
earning a lot of money things like that
so the thing is I was able to take up
many thing from the list which made me
intern thought that I was a potential
for anything you know very cool person
with something with that but on meeting
and working would mean have young fears
have realized a few things I realized
that I was a potential person yes but
only in my community and in the
community that I live in and the world
is so much globalized now just checking
on all of these things from your
community checklist is never enough you
and yeah and that’s also read come to a
realization that many of us many of our
villainous young students are working so
so hard
whatever but the question is are we
working smart we work very hard in our
own limits and we don’t see what’s
happening beyond the limit we don’t
think what’s happening out there we
think that within that we working so so
hard well I think you must me be careful
because it’s a trap it traps you in your
own limit there’s no more room for
innovation and there’s no more room for
for the further development you’re stuck
inside the limit also have also noted
that because we are so entitled to being
a good student or being whatever gonna
be we’ve become so indifferent a few
months back I was invited to be a
speaker on a shared Ishita and a peer to
peer sharing workshop on youth
opportunity and a famous University in
Ho Chi Minh City so during this the
whole session I was patiently waiting
for that one question that really
triggered me and challenged me about the
opportunity about Adam but I found no
luck oh the question that I received was
about studying English tips to study
English capillaries had to listen well
things like that well they weren’t
interested in broader topics and more
concerning issues so we all know that
English is very important right after
that day I realized that many of us I’m
not seeing a bigger picture we’re only
seeing one trivial goal why are as the
empires are already taking action and
making contributions so that’s a few
things that I’ve realized from my
exposure I’m experienced as I am and my
fellow youth but the good thing is we
can always change right can always
change just like I did and I think that
the first step for you to engage in this
fast evolving world is to know about it
in this case is as a be proactive look
for as a new information connect with
like-minded people that will motivate
you to look further than that limit
travel given as an cooperation searching
up as an opportunity stake careers to be
engaged because if you’re not engaging
in your being left out and there will
come that one person from a different
country who comes here and take away
what could have been yours if you try
harder and smarter which it needs to be
a little bit more informed and more
inquisitive and once you’re ready go out
there and make this country proud and
also
remember this opportunities are endless
but they only come to the people that
deserve them are you one of those who
deserve them deserve a sense opportunity
when you are still ignoring it to me
before knowing Sen Sen seen that there
was nothing imparting to a daily
activity I thought it was all about
diplomatic meetings policy agreements
which L got my responsibility and as
soon well as Ian was not my matter at
that moment yes it might be matter for
me in the future but not that moment and
I didn’t even care
my difference this idea Bo a bit Naurang
Sen has make us live in this world or
reject all the advantages and chances
that Adam brings to us in the last 15
years
where will we and truly exist in the
victory floor as after a year of knowing
sen and being aware at the passing
citizen I can’t even believe that s name
had changed myself a lot it bring his
friends culture understanding
opportunity in leadership public
speaking communication many times going
across in youth leader change programs
in different Asian countries more ever
as soon as a chance for me to really
point in opinion to original issues as a
young people in the community
the fact is 60% of Asia’s population a
young people and the youth plays oh
really
Fortin role in the community that’s why
as they always try to give us lots of
opportunity if only you dare to involve
and learn about it let’s start from
changing yourself today step out
yourselves onto the world let’s think
Phil and B IC AG o questioning that how
could I find lots of lots of chances
lots of opportunities from Sen and take
part in various programs well the answer
is just only one word try I know that
all of you here know Google and you use
Google search for your opportunity but
have you ever taken those opportunities
seriously and try your best in those if
not let me try last year I try to join
the ASEAN you will contest on team
volunteerism because of my passion in
filmmaking as well as I wanna challenge
myself in discovering the world
fortunately I will at the national level
and was invited to Singapore for the
chaining of shop and I continue to
wonder the regional level and become the
first winner of the contest as you see I
try and I did it I know that anyway of
course we have our own violence skills
knowledge and passion that could be used
to make our country be proud out through
many change programs and from what I
have encountered I could say well if you
are prey enough to step out your mission
now is become a person citizen being
assessed
is making high appreciation of its
diversity
knowing Sen mean what at you know is
people and the more you get to meet
understand others that believe the
history that their culture and their
philosophy the more you get to know
about yourself we are like robos that
try to close ourselves in the classroom
we don’t know or even care about things
or routers during the epic week this
month I realized that yes we do care we
do care about him nervous
we care about Tuesday a prime minister
candidate job Suribachi BCD canal who
care about Ruth Carter s for his
security and his troubling is enhancing
those both got a lot of lashes Shane
please move help out the TV be the chant
Pacific Partnership do you care about
those do you care about opportunity and
the challenges that you the young people
will face when Vietnam be a member of a
back as well as Sen and what should we
prepare for the fall boy hero in this
show revolution which will make a really
big impact to the acid economic
community as well as to our future
career and making a quick ten questions
of online survey research about Sen and
about the preparation of AEC was carried
out by teacher and a student of orange a
University of one hundred percent people
survey 30 percent of them know about us
in with now understanding twenty percent
are not even interested in Sen
that’s why as an opportunity could not
reach to your hands 50 percent knowing
at INTRUST because of the day he see the
essay
community I know that all of you here
have know about the IEC and I’ve learned
about it
there will be free chain in people
investment Texas with the requirement
and other barriers will be element
eliminated or relaxed for this free
chain but as in academic community and
you and you really understand what does
it mean to your future to your future
career if not Google might be a good
tool for you make research on yourself
no one hear you the same phone in the
lab ten or five years right we are all
update to the new phone so why don’t you
do the same to yourself update yourself
I am sharing with address and friends I
could recognize that they already take
full opportunity and advantage from us
again
they even have the detailed plan but
working abroad how about us we are still
in the circle of studying English or
defining our career others even don’t
like what they are studying or they try
to finish the university quickly with
the decrease and believe those degree
will help them to be alive about all the
changes and development of our region I
will left behind behind a dress and
friends Sen is the community of
opportunity SM gives us an opportunity
but it’s also a very competitive field
to be even if you want to be alive if
you wanna meet a different make an
innovation in changing yourself do it
now let’s start from knowing at the end
let Vic our old mark and a Vietnamese
youth and add a proud Mabel sa because
no one else the youth will be the one
who run the community in the future and me Anna
