hi I’m Rebecca Brayton and welcome to
watchmojo.com and today we’re speaking
with Nico our shambo winner of So You
Think You Can Dance Canada and
choreographer for the pinup Saints why
don’t you tell us what kind of dance you
started studying when you began dance it
was a sort of a general program where
you touched a little bit of jazz a
little bit of tap dance like the basics
of everything that’s what I was seven
year old but then I moved on to studying
really like jazz tap contemporary a
little bit of ballet as like a general
training and hip-hop how things change
for you since you won So You Think You
Can Dance Canada for sure my lifestyle
is really different there’s a lot of
offers that comes to me I have to answer
email answer phone calls all the time
which is really good please don’t stop
calling I mean it’s crazy
my girlfriend and I are she’s my fiancee
and I win I’ve choreographed this tour
together and it’s the first time that
our work is going to be in a national
tour we’re gonna be across Canada it’s
gonna be our stuff our choreography
that’s amazing I got a movie project
coming up with Bravo I’m gonna play with
dick Nureyev in a movie directed by
moles in the Sun and it just keeps
coming and coming and it’s really fun do
you think men’s roles and dance have
changed recently these days of is love
the hip hop artists is a lot of R&B a
little pop groups that use dancers and
hip-hop and breakdance and krump dancing
is obviously very masculine and because
it comes with a very popular music style
people are not surprised it’s okay if
you’re a guy who danced hip-hop before
it was jazz it was contemporary it
wasn’t marketed as big it wasn’t out
there wasn’t a popular thing so I think
it’s people being afraid of what they
don’t know if it hasn’t been approved by
TV and radio majorly people are not
comfortable and don’t have the courage
to take it asunder by himself so that’s
why dance was a little bit more
underground and not as well accepted but
there’s always been a lot of guys
dancing before here’s a question I’m
sure a lot of female and male
the answer to what’s a typical Neko our
shambo workout it’s pretty random I’d
say I don’t really go to the gym all the
workout I do is pretty much my dancing
and then it’s just by touching to
everything I mean since I’ve been off
the show I’ve started pretty much every
day by an hour and a half of private
ballet lessons like really hardcore
ballet so that’s really good for me but
then I mean I do a lot of acrobatic
stuff I’ll do some push-ups to warm up
and some sit ups and some freezes and
handstands and a lot of dancing just
dancing dancing dancing thank you very
much thank you excuse me mister
