jackie robinson debuted for the Brooklyn
Dodgers at first base this made him the
first african-american major league
baseball player of modern baseball on
that day he batted 0 for 3 but in that
year he won the Rookie of the Year
despite verbal and physical abuse by
opposing teams fans and even his own
teammates
